Prior to the release of Mi 11, Xiaomi assured that this smartphone would for a long time be an exclusive model with Snapdragon 888 for the Chinese market. In fact, the term of this exclusive is only 2 weeks, since sales of IQOO 7, also built on Snapdragon 888, will start on January 15 in China. And in a number of parameters it is even better than Mi 11.
Here, first of all, it means support for charging with a capacity of 120 watts. Mi 11 does not have this. Moreover, IQOO did not flirt with eco-marketing and included a corresponding 120W PSU in the package. It also has 65W PD certification and can be used to charge laptops. By the way, the length of the standard cable supplied is 1.5 m versus the standard 1 m.
The battery capacity is less than that of the Mi 11 – 4000 mAh, but due to twice fast charging, the smartphone charges faster: in just 15 minutes from 0 to 100%. Another important difference concerns the price: the version with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of flash memory is priced at $ 585, which is about $ 20 cheaper than the Mi 11. The top variant with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of flash is $ 650, and so is it. more affordable than a similar version of Mi 11. As for the memory types, they are as fast as in Mi 11 – these are LPDDR5-6400 MHz and UFS 3.1.
The single-chip platform is the same Snapdragon 888, but there is one very important difference from Mi 11. This is the cooling system. While the Mi 11 has certain problems with heating (because of this, performance also suffers), the IQOO 7 should not have anything like that. The manufacturer claims that trotting is not about this model at all, and the evaporation chamber is the largest in the industry. Its area is 4096 mm2, while the industry average is 1700 mm2.
For game lovers, this is a very important point. And indirectly, by the way, he confirms the facts of strong heating of Snapdragon 888 in demanding applications, otherwise there would be no need to create such a large cooling system. Judging by the teaser, it is located differently than in Mi 11: if in the Xiaomi flagship the cooling system is for some reason hidden inside the case, then in IQOO 7 it is logically placed under the lid.
The main camera is represented by three sensors with a resolution of 48 (Sony IMX598 sensor, there is optical stabilization, a wide-angle lens), 13 (a portrait lens with a focal length of 50 mm) and 13 (ultra-wide-angle lens) Mp.
The novelty also received stereophonic speakers, sound effects “Super Audio” and “4D game vibration feedback”. There is a 5G modem (Snapdragon X60) and Wi-Fi 6. In terms of the AMOLED screen resolution, IQOO 7 is not a competitor to Xiaomi Mi 11 – here it is only 2400 x 1080 pixels. But the frame rate of 120 Hz is supported, the maximum brightness is 800 cd / m2. The polling rate of the sensor layer is 300 Hz. The screen is characterized by a diagonal of 6.62 inches and occupies 91.4% of the front panel area. The dimensions and weight of the smartphone are 162.2 x 75.8 x 8.7 mm and 209.5 grams.
Pre-orders for IQOO 7 in China will begin accepting the evening of January 11 local time. Real sales, as already mentioned, start on January 15th.
Possibly hundreds of millions of smartphones are at risk. A vulnerability has been discovered that manufacturers are in no hurry to fix
Google, as part of its Project Zero project, has published information about a new vulnerability CVE-2022-33917 that affects millions of smartphones.
The fact is that we are talking about a vulnerability in Mali GPUs, which are used in a huge number of single-chip systems. Google does not specify, but the Arm website has information that the vulnerability affects solutions based on the Valhall architecture. And this means that we are talking about a huge number of graphics cores that have been and are being used in SoCs in recent years, including the latest Mali-Gx10. That is, we are not talking about millions of vulnerable smartphones, but rather hundreds of millions of devices based on SoC MediaTek, Exynos and Tensor.
Arm itself patched the vulnerability some time ago, but the problem is that many vendors still haven’t implemented those patches. This applies to many devices from Samsung, Xiaomi, Oppo and even Google itself.
If exploited, the vulnerability is intended to allow an attacker to read and write physical pages after they are returned to the system, potentially gaining wide access to user data.
Will most Samsung smartphones in 2023 look like this? Galaxy A34 renders have appeared
The first renderings of the Samsung Galaxy A34 have appeared on the Web, which demonstrate the same design that we have already seen on renders of other upcoming devices from the company.
The Galaxy A34 in these images is very similar to the Galaxy A54 and the new younger Galaxy S23. At the same time, the author of the new renders is still the same very reliable OnLeaks insider, who almost never makes mistakes.
There are still few technical details about the new product. It is reported about the screen with a diagonal of 6.5 inches and dimensions of 161.3 x 77.7 x 8.2 mm. Also earlier, the SoC Exynos 1380, which is expected to become the basis for the Galaxy A34 and A54, was lit up on the Web. In terms of CPU performance, it is at the level of Snapdragon 695.
OneLeaks publishes several dozen renders of smartphones a year, and it’s extremely rare that something doesn’t add up. In particular, he shared renderings of OnePlus 10 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro, Samsung Galaxy A33 and others.
Elon Musk promised to release an alternative smartphone on one condition: if Twitter is removed from the App Store and Google Play
Billionaire Elon Musk has promised to release his own smartphone model if Apple and Google remove the Twitter app from their respective App Store and Google Play stores, respectively.
Elizabeth Wheeler, an American political commentator, author and podcast host, asked Elon Musk this question:
“If Apple and Google remove Twitter from their app stores, Elon Musk should release his own smartphone. Half the country would happily give up biased, spying iPhones and Androids. For a person who builds rockets for Mars, building a smartphone would be easy, right?”
Of course, I hope that it will not come to this, but, yes, if there is no other way out, I will make an alternative phone.
Earlier, Elon Musk restored the account of former US President Donald Trump on Twitter. Before that, the billionaire conducted a survey.
