The first cumulative update for Windows 11 has been released

Published

on

Microsoft has released the first cumulative update for Windows 11. The update has catalog number KB5006674. It increases the build number of Windows 11 to 22000.258.

First of all, this is a planned security update. However, there is also something more useful for a number of users. Specifically, Microsoft is talking about resolving known compatibility issues between some Intel Killer and SmartByte networking software and Windows 11. In particular, devices with vulnerable software may drop User Datagram Protocol (UDP) packets under certain conditions. This creates performance and other problems for UDP-based protocols. For example, some sites may load more slowly than others, which can result in slower video streaming at certain resolutions. UDP based VPN solutions can also be slower.

Also Microsoft is talking about updating the Windows 11 servicing stack.

This update improves the quality of the servicing stack, which is the component that installs Windows updates. Servicing stack updates (SSU) ensure you have a robust and reliable servicing stack so your devices can receive and install Microsoft updates

AMD and Microsoft have finally resolved both Ryzen and Epyc CPU performance issues when running Windows 11.

Microsoft has already released the patch in the Insider Build, now it’s available to everyone. Recall that it solves the problem of high latency in the L3 cache.

AMD, in turn, has released a patch that solves the problem of UEFI CPPC2 with incorrect work of the task scheduler for processor cores.

In the case of the first patch, you need to install a Windows update, but the second one needs to be downloaded from the AMD website yourself. More precisely, you do not need to download a patch, but a fresh driver for the motherboard chipset – the patch is part of it.
