The European Union is ready to completely ban the sale of cars with internal combustion engines from 2035

Thus, sales of new passenger cars with internal combustion engines in the European Union are planned to be completely banned in 2035.

Under the agreement, new cars from 2030 must also meet a 55 percent reduction in carbon emissions from 2021 levels. Vans must comply with the 50 percent reduction. In addition, the agreement states that existing EU funding should be directed towards the transition to zero-emission vehicles and related technologies in the future. The commission also promises to publish a report every two years detailing the region’s progress towards zero-emission car mobility starting in 2025.

The press release says that within the framework of the stipulated initiative, various mechanisms will be provided to encourage consumers to become more active buyers of a zero-emission car, that is, first of all, electric vehicles. Actually, various subsidies in many countries have existed for a long time.

The agreement has yet to be signed by the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union.
