The Razer Edge 5G handheld console will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon G3X Gen 1 SoC and will run Android.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon G3x Gen 1 gaming platform launched in December 2021 is powered by Adreno GPU. It supports game playback at 144 frames per second with native support for 10-bit HDR. In addition, the platform offers both 5G and WiFi 6E connectivity thanks to the FastConnect 6900 system.

The maximum price for pre-order will be $1199, retail – $1499.

The second Geek model is positioned as more affordable. It has the same processor, but the most basic version will get an 800p screen. It will have 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. The maximum version with a 1200p screen, 32 GB of RAM and 2 TB of permanent storage will cost $1149/$1369.

Both devices have fingerprint sensors, gyroscopes, vibration motors and analog sticks. However, the more premium Neo 2 line has LPDDR5-6400 RAM and PCIe 4.0 drives, while the Geek has PCIe 3.0. Separately, we note that all models are equipped with 3.5 mm connectors, as well as high-speed USB4 ports with support for external graphics cards.

We have already talked about the CFI-1200 in detail: the set-top box is lighter than previous versions, received a modified layout inside and a more compact cooling system. As it turned out, this is not all innovations: the device uses the AMD Oberon Plus SoC, made using a 6-nanometer process technology.

On paper, the transition from a 7nm SoC to a 6nm one does not look like something impressive, but in fact, this is what allowed the set-top box to be lighter and reduce heat. Switching to N6 technology can increase transistor density by almost 20% while reducing power consumption. If the SoC heats up less, then it does not need a large cooling system. That is why the “lightweight” PS5 has a more compact heatsink.

The image above clearly demonstrates how AMD’s 6nm Oberon Plus SoC differs from the 7nm Oberon. Oberon Plus crystal area is 260mm2 – Approximately 15% less Oberon crystal area (300 mm2).
