Samsung is trying to make its inexpensive smartphones not only better, but also more productive. It has already ditched the outdated Exynos 9611 in favor of modern Qualcomm platforms in the mid-range Galaxy A.
Now it has been confirmed that the inexpensive Galaxy A22 4G will also receive a much more powerful platform than its predecessor. The Galaxy A21, we recall, was based on the rather outdated MediaTek Helio P35 SoC with eight Cortex-A53 cores.
The Geekbench base confirms that the Galaxy A22 4G will receive, albeit not new, but significantly faster Helio G80, which MediaTek itself refers to as gaming solutions. Recall that here we are already talking about two cores Cortex-A75 and six Cortex-A55.
In Geekbench 5, as you can see, the platform is gaining about 300 and 1250 points in single-threaded and multi-threaded modes, respectively. In AnTuTu 8, her score is about 190,000 points. For comparison, Helio P35 is gaining 120,000 points in AnTuTu, and in Geekbench it is almost twice inferior to the newer platform.
Thus, the Galaxy A22, at its expected low price, will offer quite good performance.
