The Nvidia GeForce 40 mobile accelerators, which debuted ten days ago, did not really impress with their parameters, but the characteristics on paper are one thing, and the real capabilities of the video card are quite another. Based on a quick test of the GeForce RTX 4080, Nvidia did a really good job with the Ada Lovelace architecture.

Actually, the test is very simple: Cyberpunk 2077 was launched on two Razer laptops (one with a GeForce RTX 4080, the other with a GeForce RTX 3080 Ti) and measured consumption. It turned out that the new model produced a frame rate of 77 FPS, while consuming only 51.6 watts. The GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, in turn, produced 64 FPS while consuming almost three times as much – 146.4 watts. The difference is obvious.

So far this is just a cursory comparative test, but quite revealing. Notebooks with GeForce RTX 4090 and RTX 4080 will go on sale on February 8, then it will become absolutely clear how mobile Ada Lovelace is better than mobile Ampere.

We are talking about a laptop Acer Aspire 3 (A315-24P-R758B) worth $400. For this money, the buyer will receive a 15-inch mobile PC with 8 GB of LPDDR5 memory, a 128 GB SSD and a Ryzen 3 7320U APU, which includes four Zen 2 cores at up to 4.1 GHz and a Radeon 610M GPU with RDNA 2 architecture, but only 128 stream processors.

Unfortunately, the authors of the Liliputing site did not test the system in any real applications for work, but on the other hand, Mendocino APUs are not focused on some kind of heavy load.

In benchmarks, as we can see, the Ryzen 3 7320U processor shows itself approximately at the level of the Core i5-1130G / 1135G7, but the graphics core loses to all test participants, and noticeably. For games, such a laptop can only be used if these same games are very undemanding and / or old.

At the same time, the author of the article noted that in everyday tasks in Chrome, GIMP, Irfanview and LibreOffice, the new Acer behaves very well, and there is no particular difference with much more expensive laptops.

As for autonomy, it is at an average level. In particular, watching YouTube at 60% screen brightness completely drained the laptop in seven hours.

At the same time, this Aspire 3 model offers Wi-Fi 6, USB-C 3.2, Bluetooth 5.2, HDMI 2.1, USB-C charging and an 18.8 mm thick case with a weight of 1.78 kg.

It is worth noting that laptops with Ryzen 3 7320U and other Mendocino APUs play in the same price segment, where there will be models on the new Intel Processor CPUs that have replaced Celeron and Pentium.

Firstly, a board with this number had previously appeared in rumors of a relative new Titan, and secondly, just 48 GB of memory was always attributed to the new Titan. This is not proof yet, but more weighty arguments.

Interestingly, the memory is listed as GDDR6, not GDDR6X. Of course, the first one can also be very high-frequency, but still the second one has higher frequencies.

According to all the leaks, the new Titan model can get the AD102 GPU in full configuration with 18,176 CUDA cores and 48 GB of memory with a 384-bit memory bus. True, the same thing, with only 24 GB of memory, is attributed to the RTX 4090 Ti models, and it is not clear whether Nvidia needs two very similar cards. It is also hard to even imagine how much the new Titan could cost. For example, the Titan RTX came out in 2018 and cost $2,500, while the RTX 2080 Ti on the same GPU was asked for $1,000.

Intel had just launched its Sapphire Rapids server processors, and a photo related to the next generation of Sierra Forest has already appeared on the Web.

One of the photos shows the protective cover of the processor socket of the board designed for new CPUs. And you can see that we are talking about the LGA-7529 connector. Recall that the number indicates the number of contacts. By comparison, Sapphire Rapids are LGA-4677, meaning there will be a massive increase in pin count.

Such a huge number of contacts is likely due to the fact that these CPUs, according to leaks, will have a huge number of cores. The latest data was about 344 or even 528 cores! True, these are all small nuclei, but the number is somehow huge.

According to Intel itself, Sierra Forest will be manufactured using the Intel 3 process technology, and such CPUs will be released next year.
