Tesla surpasses the plan for the production of electric vehicles in 2020, producing a total of 509 thousand Model S 3 X Y

January 2, 2021 Tesla published report on the production and delivery of electric vehicles for the fourth quarter of 2020. The company has summed up production results for the past year. Tesla employees assembled and produced a total of 509,737 Model S / 3 / X / Y, of which 499,550 electric vehicles were delivered to customers.

December 25, 2020 Elon Musk wrote A motivation letter to all Tesla employees, asking them to do everything they can to help the company fulfill the plan and reach a new historic milestone.

Tesla’s goal this year was to hit the 500k mark, which the company eventually surpassed. In 2019, Tesla produced 367.5 thousand cars.

However, the company lacked 450 electric vehicles to close this year’s milestone and deliver to customers. Tesla considers an electric car to be delivered only if it has been handed over to the client, and all documents of the purchase and the fact of the transfer are drawn up correctly and checked by the company’s employees.

For the sake of maximum sales growth at the end of the year, Tesla made several offers to buyers – free access to fast charging for some time and the ability to use the autopilot function at no additional cost. At the end of December, Tesla released a holiday software update for electric vehicles with Boombox mode and new games.

Elon Musk wrote on Twitter, which is proud of the company’s success. Musk also explained that at the dawn of the project’s launch, he was optimistic about 10% chances that Tesla would survive.

Tesla Shares in 2020 Sharply took off from $ 100 per piece in January 2020 to $ 700 in December. The market capitalization of the company at the end of the year was more than $ 660 billion.

Last December, the head of Tesla admitted that he was considering selling the company during the Model 3 production crisis in 2017. Elon Musk wanted to offer it to Apple for 10% of the current value, but the head of the company Tim Cook refused to meet.
