Tesla Semi is no longer the coolest truck. Geely Homtruck announced with futuristic design, glass roof, replaceable batteries and built-in washing machine
Geely has announced the Homtruck electric tractor unit in China. The novelty is just right to be recorded in the competitors of Tesla Semi, only Homtruck looks more interesting than Semi, and the technical filling promises to be the most balanced for the needs of the transportation industry.
The fact is that three options are announced for Homtruck at once. One is completely electric, but with the ability to quickly change batteries. The other two are hybrid. In the first case, it is supposed to use an internal combustion engine, and in the second – a methanol engine! That is, even as a hybrid, the Homtruck will turn out to be an environmentally friendly truck.
The design of the truck is described in official documents as Sci-fi – and indeed, the car seems to have left the pages of science fiction novels. The designers “drew inspiration from the galactic universe, with which they combined traditional Chinese culture to create a unique visual experience.” It can be seen that the engineers did a good job on aerodynamics – they tried to get rid of all protruding elements. So, instead of large mugs of mirrors, small legs with built-in cameras are used.
Inside the tractor there is a panoramic roof, TV, bed, bathroom and kitchenette, built-in washing machine. In a word, everything that a trucker needs on the way. An intelligent system for monitoring the general condition of the driver is also provided.
Power, mileage per charge and all other details about the Geely Homtruck should appear on November 8, when the tractor is fully declassified.

Official: Huawei will unveil its second car on July 4th. Hybrid Aito M7 debuts on the same day as nova 10 smartphones

Previously, Huawei announced that the official premiere of the nova 10 series smartphones would take place on July 4, and now it has become known that the company will also introduce its second car, the Aito M7, on the same day. With one shot, Huawei will kill two birds with one stone, however, they say that this day there will be much more new products.
Aito M7 is a hybrid crossover. In terms of dimensions, it will be noticeably larger than Huawei’s first car, the Aito M5 hybrid crossover. The company has released several new teasers that suggest the Aito M7 will be positioned as a large family travel car.
Official details will be revealed on July 4, but it is already known that the car is designed for six, and its dimensions are 5020 x 1945 x 1775 mm with a wheelbase of 2820 mm.
The capacity of the traction battery will be approximately 40 kWh – on pure electricity, the crossover will be able to travel about 150 km, and the average fuel consumption will be about 7 liters per 100 km. There will be no lack of power: a 177 hp electric motor mounted on the front axle will be combined with a 272 hp engine. on the rear axle.

A range of more than 1000 km and fast charging from 10 to 80 percent in 10 minutes. CATL announces advanced traction batteries for electric vehicles

CATL, a well-known Chinese manufacturer of traction batteries for electric vehicles, has announced a new generation of batteries called Qilin. They are characterized by volume efficiency (72% – and, according to the manufacturer, this is a world record), as well as high energy density – up to 255 W h / kg. Qilin cells are capable of storing 13% more energy than 4680 cells in Tesla electric vehicles.
CATL notes that Qilin will easily provide a range of 1000 km – and even more. Another feature that is no less important for an electric car is support for fast charging. The manufacturer says that it will be possible to charge the battery by 70% (from 10 to 80%) in just ten minutes (that is, 700 km, based on a maximum power reserve of 1000 km). True, to achieve such a charging speed, you will still have to find the appropriate terminal.
The manufacturer also talks about innovative liquid cooling technology with a fourfold increase in heat transfer area, due to which the cells are cooled much more efficiently. Of course, CATL claims Qilin is completely thermally stable and safe.
Mass production of the new CATL traction batteries will start in 2023. Accordingly, serial cars with Qilin should appear next year. CATL supplies its batteries to Tesla, Volkswagen, BMW, Nio. As for Qilin specifically, their use in Roewe, Lotus and Li Auto electric vehicles has already been confirmed.

The first electric vehicles jointly developed by Geely and Lifan were shown in China. Crossover Livan 7 accelerates to 100 km / h in 4.9 seconds and has a range of up to 750 km, but this is not the main thing

At the auto show, which is taking place these days in Chongqing, China, the global premiere of Livan brand cars took place. They are developed by a joint venture of local giants – Geely and Lifan. It was logical to think that the companies will present something interesting, and it really is. A feature of Livan will be proprietary technology of replaceable capsular traction batteries: the company will bring to the market at least six models in different categories and bodies designed for the use of replaceable batteries within three years. By the end of this year, Livan will install about 200 rapid battery change stations in China. The traction battery itself is a capsule, the capacity of which can be 50, 70, 80 or 90 kWh. It is reported that the battery life is 8 years or 800 thousand kilometers.
Now to cars. Least of all is known about the flagship Livan 9. It should be noted that this large crossover is suspiciously similar to Huawei Aito M7 – the second crossover of the Chinese giant. However, there are similarities even in the logos. Nothing is known about Livan, except for the landing formula (2 + 2 + 2) and the presence of all-wheel drive, which, in general, is typical for a flagship.
About Lebanon 7 more details. This is a compact crossover with a length of about 4.2 m. It will have options with both front and rear or all-wheel drive. The top all-wheel drive version will be able to accelerate to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds. The power reserve in accordance with the CLTC methodology will be 550-750 km.
There will be lidars in the autonomous driving system, a Chinese source says that Livan 7 complies with the third level of autonomy, that is, on the tracks it will even be possible to take your hands off the steering wheel. Serial production of Livan 7 and Livan 9 will start next year.
Finally, the third novelty of Livan is the Maple 80V Pro (this is a minivan based on Geely Jiaji). This is a compact minivan – something like the Opel Zafira. It differs from its predecessor, the 80V (without Pro in the name), with a redesigned interior and, in fact, a quick-change system for the traction battery – it can be replaced in a minute.
The Maple 80V Pro is powered by a 136 hp electric motor and has a maximum range of 480 km. This compact minivan is designed for 6 people, prices are from 24,625 to 26,865 dollars.
An interesting feature of the Maple 80V Pro is that you can buy a car without a traction battery at all (then you will have to pay $ 15,500) and subscribe to a replacement service. With a relatively short service life, it will be cheaper than buying a car equipped with a battery.
