Tesla Model X competitor from Mercedes-Benz. Presented crossover EQS SUV with a power of up to 544 hp, a range of up to 600 km and a fully controlled chassis
Mercedes-Benz has unveiled its flagship electric crossover EQS SUV. In the US, where the novelty will be produced, it will compete with the top Tesla crossover – Model X.
EQS SUV is presented in two versions: the base one under the designation 450+ has a single electric motor on the rear axle with a capacity of 359 hp, but the older 580 4Matic is all-wheel drive, with two electric motors with a total output of 544 hp. Accordingly, the first version accelerates to 100 km / h in 6.2 s, the second in 4.7 s.
The maximum power reserve is 600 km (the capacity of the traction battery is 108 kWh). Fast charging is supported: from the corresponding terminal, the car can be charged by 70% (from 10% to 80%) in half an hour. It will take about 11.5 hours to charge the car from home charging.
The EQS SUV is built on the platform of an electric sedan, but differs from it in dimensions. So, the crossover is a few centimeters wider and 20 cm higher, but at the same time shorter by 9 cm.
The base EQS SUV has two rows of seats, but a third row is available for a surcharge. Inside, there is a huge “hyperscreen” with three screens with a total diagonal of 56 inches and a single protective glass. Standard equipment includes air suspension with adaptive dampers, drive mode selection system, fully steerable chassis with 10° steering wheels. Of course, there were some electronic assistants like active cruise control, blind spot monitoring systems, etc., but there is no autopilot, like in a Tesla car.
The novelty will go on sale in the US this year. The base version is expected to cost around $110,000 in the North American market.

The new Toyota Highlander is presented: the car finally got a turbo engine

Toyota introduced the updated Highlander crossover in the North American market, where sales will begin before the end of this year. Prices will be announced later.
The main change in the upgraded Toyota Highlander was the emergence of a new four-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine, which replaced the atmospheric “six”. The old 3.5-liter naturally aspirated V6 engine was replaced by a 2.4-liter turbo four with 269 hp. with 418 Nm of torque. New 30 hp engine less powerful, but at the same time peak thrust increased by 62 Nm. Toyota is talking about the environmental friendliness of the new engine, which emits about 50% fewer harmful particles into the atmosphere compared to the old six-cylinder naturally aspirated engine.
The Toyota Highlander will also be available in the US with a hybrid powertrain based on a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated engine, working together with two electric units. In sum, all engines are capable of developing power up to 246 hp.
In the cabin, older versions have a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, as well as a 7-inch information display. The car received a new multimedia system with a diagonal of 12.3 inches with navigation, voice control and the ability to automatically download updates.
The multimedia system supports wireless connection of mobile devices on iOS and Android platforms.

Honda showed its first electric crossover Prologue. But it will only be released in 2024.

Honda, like many other Japanese brands, is far behind its European competitors when it comes to electrifying their cars. The company already has a Honda e, and now the manufacturer has unveiled its first electric crossover, the Prologue. True, the car will enter the market only in 2024.
Whatever it was, so far we have only one official image. The crossover on it is not very similar to the current Honda models. The source says that Prologue is a joint development of the Japanese giant and GM, but no details yet. It is likely that the Prologue and some General Motors electric cars will have a common platform.
Honda plans to introduce 30 new electric vehicle models by 2030 and expects sales of 2 million units. After launching the Prologue in 2024, Honda plans to begin production of new electric vehicles based on its e:Architecture architecture in 2026, and in 2027 it will have affordable electric vehicles also co-developed with GM.

“I will vote Republican.” Musk lashes out at Democrats over Tesla’s exclusion from S&P 500 ESG index

Tesla was excluded from the S&P 500 ESG at the beginning of the month, but most people only knew about it now that Elon Musk decided to speak out about it.
ExxonMobil ranks in the top 10 in the world in the S&P 500 ESG Index, while Tesla didn’t make it! ESG is a scam. It was used as a weapon by fake social justice fighters.
The fact is that the S&P 500 ESG is an index that takes into account the environmental and social performance of companies. And Musk was obviously hurt that the huge oil company ExxonMobil was on the list, and Tesla was decided to be excluded. And there are even official reasons for the exclusion: Tesla has no strategy to reduce carbon emissions, no code of business conduct, and the company has also been accused of racism and poor working conditions.
But Musk did not stop at one statement.
I’ve voted Democrats in the past because they were (mostly) the goodness party. But they have become a party of division and hatred, so I can no longer support them and will vote Republican. Now watch their dirty campaign against me unfold
This is a much more serious statement, since many of Musk’s supporters are his supporters precisely because of his political views. Immediately, Musk made it clear that he changed them. This has already cost Tesla about $40 billion in capitalization, as the company’s shares fell immediately after the publication of its head.
