Tesla Model S electric car fell in price by thousands of dollars

by Henry Brown

Tesla has announced a price cut for the Tesla Model S five-door electric sedan.

Note that the Tesla Model S represents the “premium” segment of electric vehicles. The most popular Tesla models now are the significantly more affordable Model 3 and Model Y. In the record third quarter of 2020, out of 139-plus thousand deliveries, only 15 thousand were for Model S and X, and 124 thousand for Model 3 and Model Y.

In the United States, Tesla Model S fell 4%. As a result, a car in the most affordable configuration (Dual Motor All-Wheel Drive) can be bought for $ 3,000 cheaper – for 71,990 instead of the previous $ 74,990 (Long Range Plus version). The Performance trim level also dropped by $ 3,000 – to $ 91,990.

In China, the decline in prices is slightly less – by 3%. Note that earlier in October, Tesla also cut prices for the local market for Model 3 sedans made in China – by about 8%, to $ 36,805.
