Tesla is breaking records for deliveries from quarter to quarter, but the market for several hundred thousand cars in three months is very small. As a result, this leads to paradoxical situations – this, in particular, has developed in the US secondary market.
In the United States, there is a federal subsidy of $ 7,500 – it is received by the buyer of any electric car, but exactly until the manufacturer sells 200,000 electric vehicles a year. Thereafter, the granting of subsidies is suspended until next year. Tesla is doing its best to increase the volume of deliveries of its cars not only in China, Europe, but also in the home market. This year, the milestone of 200,000 cars was passed, and Tesla buyers were automatically deprived of subsidies – cars for them, in fact, automatically increased in price by $ 7,500. But even without this, Tesla is getting more expensive – against the backdrop of a shortage of components, the company has raised the cost of its cars in China, Europe, and the United States.
The rise in price of cars in the primary market has led to a rise in their prices in the secondary one, however … in the secondary market Tesla are becoming more expensive faster and more significantly! At least this is the case for the best-selling Tesla Model 3. According to iSeeCars, the Model 3 has become the most popular car in the US aftermarket, and it takes the least time to sell – just 16 days. In comparison, it takes almost 4 days longer to sell the second most popular auto in the US in the aftermarket, the Mitsubishi Outlander. But even that is not interesting, but the cost of Model 3. The average selling price of a Model 3 with mileage is $ 47,453. At the same time, the cost of the new Tesla Model 3 in the US now starts at $ 42,000 …
Radars will really come to cars next year
The market for automobile radars or radars, which in 2020 amounted to 63 million units with a total value of $ 3 billion, by 2028 will grow to 274 million units with a total value of $ 10 billion. This forecast is given by experts of the analytical company Strategy Analytics, specifying that the turning point for the industry will be 2022. Radar imaging technology is expected to further enhance the capabilities of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and self-driving systems.
The growing demands for active safety in new passenger cars have not only increased the demand for sensors, including radars, but also increased the performance requirements for ADAS and associated sensors. It is expected that the new radars will have improved range and speed resolution, be able to determine heights and be more resistant to interference in the form of signals from other radars, which is necessary in an environment where they will increasingly be found in vehicle equipment. Imaging radars will be able to detect smaller objects, classify objects in the field of view, and track more objects that are close to each other. The reliability of detecting and classifying various objects will be improved, which, in turn, will improve the performance of ADAS systems and increase consumer confidence in them.
Chery unveils Jetour X-1 hybrid crossover with Huawei L3 self-driving system
The well-known Chinese company Chery has presented a new futuristic crossover through its Jetour brand, which so far passes under the model number X-1. Until January 1, there is a competition in which those who wish can offer their own version of the name for the car.
The Jetour X-1 is built on a completely new platform called Kunlun, and the car is equipped with Huawei’s L3 self-driving system, which allows the car to drive on its own most of the time, but in an emergency, the driver must take control. The Kunlun architecture will also support the L5 self-driving system, when cars do not need a steering wheel.
The car received a unique radiator grille, which is part of the bumper, and two-level optics. It is reported that we are talking about a rechargeable hybrid. The car will be equipped with a new Kunpeng power plant from Chery. Presumably, we are talking about the same combination that previously debuted in the Chery Tiggo 8 Plus Kunpeng e +. This car has a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine producing 170 hp. and two electric motors. The total power of such a system reaches 462 hp. at 510 Nm of torque.
The release of Jetour X-1 in China is expected next year.
SEC Investigates Tesla Following Complaints Of Defective Solar Panels
The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is investigating Tesla following a complaint alleging that the company did not disclose the security risks associated with solar panels installed on rooftops. These panels are supplied by Tesla’s SolarCity.
The commission acknowledged that the complaint, which served as the basis for the investigation, was filed by Steven Henkes, a former Tesla employee.
He contacted the SEC in 2019 after the automaker allegedly ignored his requests to notify consumers and regulators of solar panel safety concerns. One problem was related to defective electrical connectors that could cause a fire. More than 60,000 consumers have been affected by these problems, according to the complaint.
In 2020, Henkes sued Tesla, claiming the company fired him in retaliation for his actions.
