Ten Huawei models received an update to EMUI 11

by Henry Brown

Beta testing of EMUI 11 went beyond China and became available to owners of Huawei smartphones and tablets in Russia and European countries.

There are ten device models participating in the EMUI 11 beta test:

  • Huawei P40
  • Huawei P40 Pro
  • Huawei P40 Pro +
  • Huawei Mate 30
  • Huawei Mate 30 Pro
  • Huawei Mate 30 5G
  • Huawei Mate 30 Pro 5G
  • Huawei Mate 30 RS Porsche Design
  • Huawei MatePad Pro
  • Huawei MatePad Pro 5G

In Europe and Russia, test assemblies of EMUI 11 are available for Huawei P40, P40 Pro, P40 Pro + and Mate 30 Pro smartphones. We can expect that the list of supported models will be expanded soon.

The EMUI 11 shell is based on Android 11 and has received most of the features implemented in this OS update from Google, as well as Huawei proprietary add-ons and applications. Google services are not built there, as Huawei is still blacklisted by the US Department of Commerce and cannot license products from US companies.

EMUI 11 adds support for Always-on Display to smartphones with constant display of the time on the screen, improved Multi Window function (split screen with multiple windows), synchronous editing of notes simultaneously from different devices at the same time, and smoother transition animations. Huawei has warned users that the experimental firmware may contain bugs and errors, and a rollback to the previous stable build will be possible only after the official release of the update. What kind of bugs this firmware contains should come as a surprise to users.
