Tablet market declined by 10% over the year

Published

on

Experts from the analytical company Strategy Analytics have summed up the results of the third quarter in the tablet market. According to their calculations, this market declined by 10% on an annualized basis. Analysts point out that market demand is still much higher than it was before the pandemic. In their opinion, since the COVID-19 pandemic remains one of the main problems worldwide, the gap between high demand and component shortages will be a test for suppliers and their trading partners during the winter holidays.

Apple tablet shipments rose 15% year-on-year to 17.3 million units. As a result, Apple’s share has grown from 30% to 38%.

Remaining the largest supplier of Android tablets, Samsung has reduced shipments by 23% to 7.5 million units. As a result, Samsung’s share fell from 19.1% to 17%.

Lenovo is the only manufacturer in the top five to show an annualized increase in shipments. By increasing shipments by 5% to 4.3 million units, Lenovo was able to increase its share from 7.6% to 9%.

Amazon is in fourth place, Huawei is in fifth. Their shares are equal to 8% and 4%, respectively.

Renowned informant Evan Blass has posted high-quality renders of all the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 tablets, which will include the 11-inch Tab S8, 12.4-inch Galaxy Tab S8 + and 14.6-inch Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra.

As previously reported, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 and Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 + will have a classic design with fairly large bezels, while the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra will have significantly reduced bezels, but will receive a bang-style cutout.

This notch will house two selfie cameras. While the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra’s bangs aren’t nearly as striking as the iPhone and the new MacBook Pro, this element will surely be criticized.

All three Galaxy Tab S8 models are expected to feature 120Hz AMOLED panels, Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 single-chip systems. The Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra is expected to feature a 12,000mAh battery with 45W charging support.
