In 2024, the US will spend more on streaming video than on Pay TV for the first time, according to the latest study by Strategy Analytics. Consumer spending on traditional Pay TV services fell 8% last year to $ 90.7 billion. According to analysts, they will continue to decline and in 2023 will amount to $ 74.5 billion. By contrast, spending on streaming services (such as video-on-demand and TV-by-subscription with Internet delivery) has increased in 2020. The growth was 34%, and in absolute terms, these costs reached $ 39.5 billion. If forecast comes true, they will reach $ 76.3 billion in 2024, surpassing Pay TV spending for the first time.

Analysts predict that by 2026, Pay TV will account for only 40% of video and TV spending. For comparison: in 2016, the share of these segments was 81%.
