In the latest beta of Steam, Valve has operatively added controller support for next-gen consoles. This applies to both Sony’s PlayStation 5 and Microsoft’s Xbox Series X / S gamepads.

While device support is still in beta testing, these features are likely to be available to all Steam users soon.

Interestingly, we are talking about support even for all functions of the DualSense gamepad for PlayStation 5, which should be added to Steam a little later. It’s about tactile feedback, which is billed as the newest feature in DualSence.

The only thing that raises questions is whether the developers will use the capabilities of gamepads for their projects, or will bypass its functionality. Speaking specifically about Steam, Valve has so far only introduced button support. Gyroscope and trackpad will not be supported yet.
