The first generation of PCIe 5.0 SSDs may not be as fast as we would like and as we were shown during the prototype demonstrations.

SSDs with PCIe 5.0 in the first generation are not as fast as manufacturers showed

Recently, several manufacturers have announced their new SSDs based on the Phison PS5026-E26 controller. At the same time, manufacturers often claim data transfer rates of up to 10 GB / s for their new products. At the same time, we have previously seen paper announcements and demonstrations of prototypes at speeds up to 13-14 GB / s. The reason for this situation is very simple: there is simply no fast enough flash memory on the market right now.

At the moment, companies are using 176-layer NAND memory, but its bandwidth is simply not enough. However, 232-layer Micron memory with 2400 MT/s and 238-layer Hynix memory with the same performance should appear on the market soon. To be more precise, Micron memory is already being produced, but so far in small volumes. In particular, Gigabyte created its Aorus family drive using this memory, but such microcircuits will be mass-produced only at the beginning of next year. Hynix memory should also become available at that time.

The best next generation Intel processors will ship in these packages

An image of the packaging of the Core i9-13900K processor has appeared on the Web, and at least in general all new-generation Core i9K CPUs.

As you can see, the packaging is very thin, and inside there is some metallic color insert, the design of which is not very clear yet. But it is she who, apparently, is the substrate for the processor.

Of course, there is no cooler in the box, since Intel has long ceased to equip top processors with cooling systems due to constantly growing power consumption.

Recall that the announcement of new CPUs is scheduled for September 27, and they are expected to go on sale in October. Also today, the Core i9-13900K once again showed what it can do.

The novelty scored 4833 points against 4412 points for the Core i9-12900KS, which previously held the lead. The Core i9-12900K has a score of 4209 points, which means that the increase in the Core i9-13900K is quite significant.

In multi-threaded mode, the processor scores 54,443 points. The Core i9-12900K scores 41,455 points in this mode, while the Ryzen 9 5950X scores 45,849 points. That is, now the Core i9-13900K is unconditionally leading in this benchmark, but we must remember that we do not yet have the results of the Ryzen 9 7950X.

The release of new Intel processors is expected in the near future. One of the unknown factors is the price, as Intel promised to raise it.
