Spotify has raised prices this week on many of its subscriptions in the UK and parts of Europe, as well as the US. Subscribers began receiving emails informing them of changes that will affect Student, Duo and Family plans in parts of Europe and the UK, as well as family subscriptions in the US, starting April 30th. Single Spotify Premium subscriptions are unaffected.
The Spotify Family subscription has risen from $ 15 to $ 16 per month in the US. Fortunately, prices for Duo, Premium and Student will remain the same. More serious price changes have taken place in Europe. In the UK, Spotify Student prices jumped from £ 5 to £ 6 a month, and a Duo subscription (for two people) from £ 13 to £ 14 a month. The Spotify Family subscription (up to six accounts) has gone from £ 15 to £ 17 a month.
Spotify users in some European countries will see similar price increases. Spotify Student and Spotify Duo subscriptions have risen in price to 6 and 13 euros per month, respectively. The family tariff in Europe has also increased from 15 to 18 euros. Some countries in Asia and South America will also see similar price increases.
All existing Spotify subscribers in the US, Europe and UK, Spotify users, will receive a monthly grace period before prices are automatically increased, so existing subscribers will see an increase during the June billing period.
The price hike on Spotify came just months after the company announced it had over 150 million subscribers.
