South Korea plans to launch sixth-generation networks in 2028, the country’s Ministry of Science, Information and Communications Technology announced on Monday.

Under the K-Network 2030 plan, the South Korean government will accelerate the launch of commercial 6G networks and put them into operation two years ahead of the original schedule.

At the same time, the government will also encourage local companies to produce materials, parts and equipment for 6G technology in the country and develop an open network that is compatible with different mobile devices and allows operators to offer flexible services.

The ministry said that a feasibility study for a 6G core technology research and development project worth about $480 million is currently underway.

The ministry said the new plan aims to help the country maintain its leading position in the global competition for future network infrastructure after the race to dominate the 5G market. South Korea is set to meet the growing demand for higher speed and lower latency wireless communications.

South Korea has led the development of 5G networks with a large number of 5G patents, while previous developments in 4G technology have been largely dominated by American and European companies, according to German analytics firm IPlytics.

Asia’s fourth-largest economy accounted for 25.9% of 5G patents last year, with China second with 26.8%. The South Korean government has said it will raise this figure to 30% when developing 6G networks.

The company believes that using search to train chatbots violates the agreement and reserves the right to terminate unilaterally. There have been no legal comments on this topic yet, but Microsoft itself has stated that there is communication with partners.

Currently, Bing search results can be used by DuckDuckGo, Yahoo, and You.com search engines. In doing so, the first system combines data from Bing and its own algorithms. And You.com and Neeva use the Microsoft system to save resources. Considering that most chatbots are trained on data from Bing or Google search, such a decision can negatively affect the speed of AI development.

Note that earlier the ChatGPT and Bing neural networks learned to spread gossip.
