Sony has over 40% share of the Japanese full-frame interchangeable lens camera market

BCN Ranking, a company that collects statistics on sales of photographic equipment in the Japanese market, published data for the period from December 2017 to December 2020. The corresponding chart shows that Sony has remained the market leader since May last year. As of the end of the year, it owns 42.6% of the market. Canon is in second place with 31.0%. The Nikon company closes the top three, noticeably far from the rest of the market participants. Its share is 21.3%.
The authors of the report note that DSLR cameras such as Canon EOS 1D and Nikon D6 form the basis of the professional segment. In the mass segment, mirrorless cameras are in the first place.
