The last company to remove the charger from the smartphone box was Sony. So far, the new strategy applies only to the Sony Xperia 10 III.
Sony Germany has announced that the Xperia 10 III will be offered without a charger in some retailers at an MSRP of € 10. Through other channels, however, the phone will still ship with a charger at the regular price.
On the part of Sony, a pleasant step was a slight decrease in the price of a smartphone without a charger in the kit. Sony does not explain the reasons for the rejection of the charger, but other companies usually tie this decision to concern for the environment.
It will be interesting to see which other countries as well as models will be covered by this Sony policy in the future.
Apple, Samsung and Xiaomi smartphones cannot do that. There was a video with the disassembly process of the modular Fairphone 4 and strength tests
The modular and most maintainable smartphone Fairphone 4 fell into the hands of blogger JerryRigEverything.
In this case, we are interested not only in his strength tests, although there is usually only one useful of them, but also in the video of the disassembly process.
As you can see, the smartphone is disassembled and assembled as easily as possible, and even the display is dismantled simply by unscrewing a few bolts. There is no need to talk about the simplicity of the battery replacement process. No other device in this segment offers this.
At the same time, modularity did not affect the strength in any way. Thanks to the metal frame, the smartphone practically does not bend, which is very good. The plastic of the back cover does not suffer from this effect either.
Recall that Fairphone 4 is based on SoC Snapdragon 750G and is equipped with an IPS screen, 48-megapixel main camera and a 3905 mAh battery.
Google makes life easier for Android TV owners by adding the ability to install apps from a smartphone
Google has made life easier for Android TV owners. These users can now install applications on their TVs directly from their smartphones.
To install, just go to Google Play from your smartphone and select a TV from the drop-down list as the target for installing the software. Similarly, Google has implemented the installation of applications on smartwatches with Wear OS.
This approach allows, firstly, to install the application faster and easier, since it is still easier to do all the manipulations from a smartphone, and secondly, in this way, you can install the application remotely without being in front of the TV.
The largest cyberattack on US government officials has been carried out. State Department employees’ iPhones have been jailbroken
Reuters reports that at least nine iPhones belonging to US State Department officials have been compromised by an unknown attacker using spyware developed by Israel’s NSO Group. This information was confirmed by four sources at once.
According to two sources, the hacks that have occurred in the past few months have affected either US officials in Uganda or people dealing with that country’s affairs in East Africa. Previously, spyware based on NSO technology had already featured in the news with potential targets, including US officials, but it was unclear if hacking attempts had been made or if they were successful.
The NSO Group said in a statement that the company has no confirmation that their tools were used to hack. However, the company has revoked access for the relevant customers and will investigate based on a request from Reuters.
If our investigation shows that these actions really happened with NSO tools, such a client will be permanently blocked and legal proceedings will begin. NSO will also cooperate with any relevant government agency and provide full information that we have.
It is not yet known who carried out this attack against the employees of the US State Department, but it is known that NSO Group sells its products to government law enforcement agencies and intelligence agencies. However, the company itself is not directly involved in surveillance operations. NSO Group software has been used repeatedly to hack smartphones of government officials, journalists, activists, academics and embassies.
It is the largest cyberattack on US government officials, but neither the State Department nor officials from the Ugandan Embassy in Washington have yet issued a statement.
Apple previously filed a lawsuit against the Israeli NSO Group and its parent company to prosecute them for spying on and harassing Apple users.
