Sony Compact returns as Xperia Flip: foldable 7-inch 4-screen and powerful hardware
Sony is currently working on developing a foldable phone that is expected to be called the Xperia Flip. An insider under the nickname @RGcloudS reported the first details about the model.
The Xperia Flip is expected to feature a vertical-fold design similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5, scheduled for release on July 26th. The inner screen is rumored to be 7-inch, 4K resolution with a 21:9 aspect ratio, making it slightly wider than its potential 22:9 aspect ratio Galaxy Z Flip 4 competitor.
Sony’s entry into the foldable phone market has generated considerable interest and speculation. This exciting development could mark the return of the Sony Compact series, which has been out of production since 2018. Small folding design can attract users.
The source added that the smartphone will receive a powerful hardware platform, good cameras and improved software of the latest flip phones. Rumor has it that Sony will use their rich gaming experience to further improve this device.
Last year, the RGcloudS insider predicted the mass appearance of flagships with LPDDR5X and UFS 4.0 memory, the use of additional chips in smartphones to process data from cameras and screens with an increased PWM frequency.

Solving the overheating problem: iPhone 15 Pro Max, S23 Ultra and Pixel 7 Pro were “tortured” by rain, water and complete freezing in a block of ice

Apple’s newest top smartphone continues to be tested online in a variety of ways, testing the limits of patience and what is acceptable. This time, the thematic resource TechDroider, known for its tests, published a video where three competing flagship smartphones are subjected to “torture in freezing water.”
In the announcement for the video, TechDroider joked:
iPhone 15 Pro Max overheating? Here’s a quick solution.
In the video itself, the iPhone 15 Pro Max, Samsung S23 Ultra and Pixel 7 Pro are tested together for resistance to freezing water. All three devices received IP68 protection against water and dust, and TechDroider decided to find out how they would behave after 6 hours of freezing.
To begin with, the smartphones were tested in rain and shower, as a result, all survived and showed no signs of moisture getting inside. Then the smartphones were placed in a container of water. At this stage, the author discovered that the S Pen stylus continues to work correctly with the Galaxy S23 Ultra even under water. As a result, all smartphones issued a warning about water getting into the USB Type-C port, and the Pixel 7 Pro even notified the owner when the connector was dry and charging became safe.
The final freezing and defrosting led to minor problems. Thus, condensation appeared in the camera block of the iPhone 15 Pro Max and all three smartphones lost volume and correct operation of the speakers. After the smartphones were allowed to rest for 24 hours without drowning or freezing, they began to work again as before. However, the iPhone 15 Pro Max required a reboot to fully restore wired charging functionality.

Nokia has returned to the smartphone market? The company has released the HHRA501x and IS540.1 devices, but it calls them industrial laptops

Nokia has, in a sense, returned to the smartphone market. New products called Nokia HHRA501x and Nokia IS540.1 were released by Finnish Nokia, and not by HBM Global. True, these are not exactly smartphones.
Nokia itself in a press release calls the devices industrial portable computers. The devices are designed for use in harsh industrial environments and are well protected – these are not everyday consumer solutions.
In addition to protection from water and dust (IP68) and compliance with the MIL-STD-810H standard, the new products offer touch-sensitive screens with gloves, slots for two SIM cards and eSIM support, replaceable batteries, EMBMS support, a 16-pin connector for connecting accessories and much more.
More familiar technical parameters are not indicated on the site, but third-party resources say that the Nokia IS540.1 has a six-inch screen, Qualcomm QCM6490 SoC, 8/128 GB of memory, a 48-megapixel camera and a 4400 mAh battery. All this runs on Android 12.

The old Xiaomi Mi 10S and Mi 10 Pro are better than the latest iPhone 15 Pro Max. The sound subsystem of an Apple smartphone has been tested by DxOmark specialists

The iPhone 15 Pro Max, like all other Apple smartphones, offers very high-quality speakers. Far from being the best on the market. At least, judging by DxOMark tests.
The smartphone scored 143 points, taking 12th place and becoming one step higher than its predecessor. Above are mostly gaming smartphones, which often stand out for their excellent stereo sound. But also better than the new iPhone were Honor Magic3 Pro+, Huawei Mate 50 Pro and the already middle-aged Xiaomi Mi 10S and Mi 10 Pro.
At the same time, the iPhone 15 Pro Max outperforms all other 2023 flagships that are in the source database. For example, the Galaxy S23 Ultra has 139 points.
It can also be noted that the new Apple product became the best in the DxOMark rating in terms of the number of sound artifacts during recording, although during playback everything is completely different: the device has 91 points against a record 157 points.
