Some newer MacBook Pro 16s have MagSafe issues. Laptops simply won’t charge when turned off

Published

on

Some new MacBook Pro 16 owners have encountered issues with MagSafe magnetic charging.

The problem is as simple as possible: laptops do not charge when the charger is connected via MagSafe. In this case, the indicator instead of green blinks yellow. The important thing is that the problem only occurs when the laptop is turned off (closed). When the mobile PC is active, charging takes place normally.

It’s unclear how common the problem is, but at least one user has already talked to Apple’s service center, and the company eventually decided to replace the laptop. Unfortunately, so far there are no other solutions to the problem.

Budget gaming laptops with Radeon RX 6500M will be free from some of the problems of some desktop systems with such a graphics card

An AMD representative said that mainly laptops with Navi 24 GPUs, that is, with RX 6500M and RX 6300M video cards, will be equipped with the latest Ryzen 6000 APUs. This means that, firstly, there is no problem with the PCIe bus, since this always PCIe 4.0, and secondly, the problem with the missing H264/265/AV1 encoder also disappears, since the hardware support for this process is available in the graphics core of the new APUs.

Appropriate notebooks should appear on sale in February. Among other things, solutions with the RX 6500M can become the cheapest gaming laptops of the current generation.
