Snapdragon 888, 5500 mAh, 144 Hz, 64 MP, 90 W, two fans and 14 temperature sensors. Lenovo Legion 2 Pro gaming smartphone presented
Lenovo today unveiled the gaming Legion 2 Pro, a smartphone that will be the main competitor to the Asus ROG Phone 5 and Black Shark 4 Pro. Like these models, the new Lenovo is based on the top SoC Qualcomm Snapdragon 888, equipped with LPDDR5 memory and UFS 3.1, but in terms of the cooling system, the Legion 2 Pro is a completely unique device.
To begin with, there are no less than 14 high-precision temperature sensors inside the case! They serve to determine the degree of heating not only of key components such as the processor and memory chips, but also the zones that are located under the hands of the gamer – to ensure their proper cooling and, thereby, increase comfort during long games.
The cooling system is the highlight of the Lenovo Legion 2 Pro. Apparently, here the best practices of the division of the company engaged in the production of laptops are used. So, like gaming laptops, Legion 2 Pro received two fans with individual ventilation ducts at once. The diameter of each “propeller” is 29 mm. They are characterized by a service life of 50,000 hours and a low noise level of 24.7 dB. Also in the cooling system is the industry’s largest evaporation chamber with an area of 4,730 mm².
In general, the problems with overheating of other flagships on the Snapdragon 888 (first it happened with the Xiaomi Mi 11, now with the OnePlus 9 Pro) will definitely not be affected by the Legion 2 Pro. In AnTuTu, the novelty is gaining 855,004 points – this is a very good result.
Lenovo Legion 2 Pro received a large AMOLED screen Samsung E4 with a diagonal of 6.92 inches with a frame rate of 144 Hz and a response rate of the touch layer of 720 Hz. Peak brightness is 1300 cd / m2, coverage of DCI-P3 color space is 111.1%, Delta E value is less than 0.5. There is also TUV Rheinland certification and DC Dimmig support, which eliminates flicker at minimum brightness.
Like other gaming smartphones, Lenovo Legion 2 Pro is equipped with additional keys: there are both shoulder keys (like in game consoles) on the side edge, and a pair of capacitive ones on the back panel. Not without customizable RGB lighting on the back, otherwise what kind of gaming smartphone is it?
The front camera of Lenovo Legion 2 Pro is retractable, it uses a sensor with a resolution of 44 megapixels. The main camera is represented by three sensors. The main one – OmniVision OV64A optical format 1 / 1.32 inches with a resolution of 64 megapixels. This is a fairly large sensor for a gaming model. Other sensors are simpler: the 16-megapixel is mated to a 120 ° ultra-wide-angle lens, while the 2-megapixel is for macro shooting.
Lenovo Legion 2 Pro received a rechargeable battery with a capacity of 5500 mAh with support for fast charging with a capacity of 90 W – it is able to charge the smartphone’s battery by 82% in just 17 minutes. However, due to a decent capacity battery and a complex multicomponent cooling system, the Legion 2 Pro turned out to be “well-fed” (thickness – 10.32 mm) and heavy: weight – 262 grams.
The prices have already been announced and are as follows: 8/128 GB – $ 565, 12/128 GB – $ 625, 12/256 GB – $ 670, 16/512 GB – $ 810.

Advanced XMAGE camera, IP68 protection, heavy-duty Kunlun glass. Huawei P60 and P60 Pro unveiled, world’s first two-way satellite smartphones

Huawei today introduced its new flagships P60 and P60 Pro. The novelties turned out to be very interesting – in many ways they differ from the flagships of other companies.
The Huawei P60 features a 6.67-inch 4-sided OLED screen with a resolution of 2700 x 1200 pixels, a frame rate of 120Hz and a PWM frequency of 1440Hz. Interestingly, the Huawei P60 Pro has exactly the same display. As a result, the dimensions of both flagships are exactly the same, the difference is only in weight: the Pro version is several grams heavier. The screen is protected by ultra-strong Kunlun glass. And the phones are protected from external influences in accordance with the degree of IP68.
The cameras of the P60 and P60 Pro differ in that Huawei did not pursue megapixels – the maximum resolution (of the main sensor) is only 48 megapixels. This approach strongly resembles Apple’s approach to designing iPhone cameras.
The Huawei P60 camera is represented by three modules. The main one has a 48-megapixel sensor with an RYYB pixel layout, an F / 1.4-4.0 variable aperture lens and an optical stabilization system. The ultra wide-angle module has a 13-megapixel (RYYB) sensor and an F/2.2 lens, but no optical stabilization. Finally, the third module is responsible for 5x optical zoom, it uses a 12-megapixel sensor (RYYB) and has optical stabilization.
The first two modules of the Huawei P60 Pro are exactly the same as those of the younger model, but the module responsible for the optical zoom is different. Firstly, the resolution is higher – as much as 48 megapixels (apparently, exactly the same sensor is used here as in the main module), and secondly, there is just a huge aperture for the periscope module – F / 2.1. Therefore, pictures taken with optical zoom look as bright and saturated as pictures taken with the main camera.
This is how examples of photos taken with the Huawei P60 camera look like:
The parameters of the power subsystem for Huawei P60 and P60 Pro are the same: the phones received batteries with a capacity of 4815 mAh, support 88 W wired charging and 50 W wireless power.
The difference from the Galaxy S23 is that the P60 and P60 Pro come with an appropriate power supply, and with two ports at once: USB-A and USB-C.
Huawei P60 and P60 Pro became the first phones from the manufacturer with HarmonyOS 3.1 out of the box. And they are the first in the world to support two-way satellite communications: using the Chinese Beidou satellite system, you can not only send messages, but also receive them. In fact, satellite communication is already a real alternative to cellular, although there are still restrictions on sending messages and calls using satellite.
Interestingly, Huawei has not yet declassified the P60 / P60 Pro hardware platform and did not talk about prices. We will update the news as soon as this data becomes available.
