Xiaomi is currently holding its largest presentation of all time, and the first device presented today is the Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro. The novelty is built on a single-chip Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 platform – like the Mi 11.

Mi 11 Pro received a curved Samsung AMOLED screen of the latest generation E4 – the same one used in Mi 11. The screen resolution is 2K, the frame rate is 120 Hz. The display is protected by tempered Gorilla Glass Victus. The fingerprint scanner is integrated into the display.

After the words that the Mi 11 Pro is endowed with Harman Kardon stereo speakers and is built on SoC Snapdragon 888, the head of the company Lei Jun immediately moved on to the cooling subsystem and the battery.

We have already talked about the cooling subsystem in detail, and it is really quite effective, as evidenced by the next slide of the presentation: after 50 minutes of playing, Mi 11 Pro is several degrees colder than a couple of main competitors, despite the fact that their frame rates are approximately the same.

And then we talked about the rechargeable battery – its capacity is 5000 mAh. Despite this, the Mi 11 Pro turned out to be slightly thicker and heavier than the regular Mi 11. The smartphone supports wired and wireless charging with a power of 67 W – in both cases the battery is fully charged in just 36 minutes.

Especially for the Mi 11 Pro, Xiaomi has introduced a new 80W wireless charging stand. The smartphone can be oriented both vertically and horizontally on it. Together with her, Xiaomi introduced a 120W travel charger and wireless charging in the form of a rug – Apple, according to rumors, has been working on a similar device for several years, but never released it. But Xiaomi was able to. The design of the “mat” has 19 coils (!), It allows you to charge up to three devices at the same time – charging starts automatically. It took Xiaomi several years to create such a wireless charger.

An important point regarding charging. The Mi 11 Pro does not come with a charger, but users can order it for free if needed. Also, Mi 11 Pro buyers are offered a wireless charging stand for $ 30 instead of the standard retail $ 75. Even if charging is not available in all versions of Mi 11 Pro, the protective glass of the screen and a silicone case are provided in the box.

Mi 11 Pro is the first smartphone in the world with a large image sensor Samsung ISOCELL GN2, optical format 1 / 1.12 inches and a resolution of 50 megapixels. It’s five times the size of the iPhone 12 Pro max sensor.

In fact, Xiaomi has been working on it with Samsung for a year and a half. The sensor has large 1.4μm pixels and supports pixel binning up to 2.8μm. The lens of the main camera sensor is also far from the simplest – it consists of 8 elements. Also, the main camera uses an optical stabilization system, supports Full HD video recording at 1920 fps or 8K at 30 fps. Not surprisingly, the Mi 11 Pro is capable of taking very high quality photos, especially in low light conditions.

Also, the Mi 11 Pro camera has a module with an ultra-wide-angle lens with a viewing angle of 123 ° (sensor resolution – 13 MP) and a module with a telephoto lens that provides 5x optical and 50x hybrid zoom. In the second case, an optically stabilized sensor with a resolution of 8 megapixels is used.

Mi 11 Pro is the company’s first smartphone with IP68 protection. In fact, it can withstand much deeper immersion under water than is regulated by the IP68 degree. So, the company made an experimental swim with him to a depth of 42 meters – and the Mi 11 Pro remained operational.

Mi 11 Pro also supports Wi-Fi 6E, is equipped with an IR emitter and an NFC module, Android 11 with MIUI 12.5 interface is used as the OS. In terms of memory, the Mi 11 Pro uses LPDDR5-6400 RAM and UFS 3.1 flash.

Prices have already been announced. The base version, with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of flash, costs $ 760. Versions with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of flash and 12GB and 256GB of flash are priced at $ 810 and $ 870, respectively.

Specialists of the popular iFixit resource, specializing in the repair of various electronics, disassembled the new Apple Watch Series 7 smartwatch and shared the results with the public.

Firstly, the watch scored 6 points on a 10-point scale of maintainability and generally positive reviews for its modular design, easy access to the screen and battery. Experts also praised Apple for keeping the Apple Watch Series 7 compatible with previous generations of bands, right up to the very first original Apple Watch.

As mentioned several times, the main difference between this device and the Series 6 is the enlarged display. Disassembling iFixit revealed that the watch uses an OLED panel with an integrated touchscreen (on-cell touch), this technology debuted in the iPhone 13.

According to experts, this is an unusual approach for Apple, which usually prefers to experiment with new screen technologies on watches, and then implement them on smartphones – as happened with OLED, variable refresh rate and the function of “always on” screen.

IFixit partnered with three former Apple engineers to disassemble the Apple Watch Series 7. As they noted, it was the new display that could cause delays in production and force the company to release the device later than it would like.

When Apple announced the Apple Watch Series 7 in September, it didn’t announce a specific release date. Former Apple engineers said this is usually indicative of delays, and the most likely cause is a manufacturing glitch caused by watch displays. They explained, “The screens have some of the most complex supply chains and assembly processes in the industry.”

The iFixit experts also found that the Apple Watch Series 7 has a larger battery compared to its predecessor. However, this did not lead to an increase in battery life, since the larger screen consumes more power.
