Apparently, the company will not wait for the traditional presentation of flagship smartphones in August. According to Ice Universe, the Korean manufacturer will unveil the new watch as early as the second quarter of 2021, starting in April and ending in June.
The main question regarding the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch Active 4 is whether they will stay on the Tizen software platform or migrate to Wear OS (formerly Android Wear). Huawei has started mass production of the new Mate 50 flagship smartphones, according to a Chinese resource that cites supply chain sources. Huawei has traditionally been very strong in terms of camera capabilities, and it is possible that some Mate 50 Pro will top the DxOMark rankings in the future. .
In general, four models are expected in the series: Mate 50e, Mate 50, Mate 50 Pro and Mate 50 RS. They will receive curved screens from local (Chinese) manufacturers and the recently introduced HarmonyOS 3.0. The younger model is credited with SoC Snapdragon 778G, all the rest – Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 without 5G support. However, some sources also talk about the use of Snapdragon 888 (also in the version with an LTE modem), so not everything is clear here yet.
The premiere of Huawei Mate 50 in China is expected on September 7, on the same day the company may introduce the Watch GT4 smart watch. There are no special details about this device: it is only reported that the watch will receive a larger screen than the current model, improved optical sensors and, of course, HarmonyOS 3.0.

Oppo Watch 3 and Watch 3 Pro are the world’s first smartwatches based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 single-chip system. Their official premiere took place on August 10, and sales started today in China.

The Oppo Watch 3 is equipped with a 1.75-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 372 x 430 pixels. The thickness and weight of this model is 11.65 mm and 31.9 grams. Oppo Watch 3 Pro is equipped with a screen with a diagonal of 1.91 inches and a resolution of 378 x 496 pixels, the thickness of the case and the weight of this model is 12.75 mm and 37 grams.
Oppo Watch 3 received a 400 mAh battery, autonomy in active mode is 4 days. The oppo Watch 3 Pro has a 550 mAh battery that provides autonomy of 5 days (or up to 15 days in power saving mode).

Are Samsung, Apple and just about every other smartwatch manufacturer lying? Companies underestimate the thickness of their watches
It seems that today the “conspiracy” of smart watch manufacturers was accidentally revealed. Of course, there is no real conspiracy, but still, many manufacturers of such devices, as it turned out, are cunning or even outright lying about some of the specifications of their products.
We are talking about weight and size indicators. The author of the channel DC Rainmaker found that Samsung very much underestimates the thickness and weight of the new Watch5. As a result, it turned out that not only Samsung does this.
But let’s start with her. According to the company’s website, the 44mm version of the Watch5 is supposed to be 9.8mm thick and weigh 33.5g. In fact, the watch weighs 55g and the case is 13mm thick! The Watch5 Pro is supposedly 10.5 mm thick, but in fact it is almost 50% larger (15.1 mm)!
Interestingly, if you remove the strap, then the mass of the watch itself will turn out to be exactly the same as it is indicated on the site. That is, we can say that in this case, Samsung is not lying. Moreover, the site has a postscript stating that the mass does not take into account the strap, but why would anyone need a mass of watches without a strap? In addition, such a focus will no longer work with the thickness – it is simply indicated incorrectly.
But the highlight is that the author decided to check the watches of other brands, and it turned out that this is the norm. In particular, Apple, Garmin and Polar also underestimate the thickness of their watches, which seems to be the norm. Although there are exceptions: Fitbit and Wahoo indicate the parameters correctly. It seems that companies just measure the thickness each in their own way. For example, Samsung apparently measures only the thickness of the side edge, while Apple and Garmin do not take into account the lower protrusion with sensors. A similar situation has long been the norm in the car market: automakers measure the clearance as they want, and it very rarely corresponds to the actual minimum distance from the lowest point of the car (excluding wheels) to the road.
