Samsung is preparing to release several new smartwatch models, some of which will be presented at the next Unpacked event. And, as the source writes, at least one model can implement a mechanism for determining blood glucose in a non-invasive way, that is, without a finger prick. Interestingly, exactly the same method of determining blood glucose is attributed to Apple’s next generation smart watch – Apple Watch Series 7. Of course, such wearable devices will become a must for people with diabetes.
The method developed by Samsung Electronics in collaboration with the Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology (SAIT) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) is based on Raman spectroscopy. Another sensor, a laser, will be used for research.
Apparently, the technology itself is already ready for mass adoption, but it must pass certification tests of various regulators, as it was already with sensors that record ECG. This is a lengthy process. However, the next Unpacked event will take place, apparently, only in August. Then they should present the Galaxy Note 21 (if Samsung does not change its mind about the release of Note line smartphones by that time) and the very new models of smart watches. The source suggests that they will be named Galaxy Watch 4 and / or Galaxy Active 3.

iPhone App of the Year is BeReal, which lets you share photos and chat with friends. It does not have filters and masks, so the pictures are as vivid as possible, close to reality. Apex Legends Mobile was named the best game for iPhone.
The iPad App of the Year was GoodNotes 5 by Time Base Technology Limited, which “takes digital note-taking to the next level with best-in-class Apple Pencil support.”
For Mac computers, MacFamilyTree 10 was the best app, which will be appreciated by genealogists, and for Apple Watch smartwatches, the Gentler Streak app was chosen.
You can see the full list of applications, including eight games, on the Apple website.

Now Apple Watch Ultra can be used to the fullest. Oceanic+ diving app now available
Despite the fact that the Apple Watch Ultra has been on sale for some time, only now the watch has received one of the important applications.
Apple today announced the launch of Oceanic+. It is this application that actually turns an Apple watch into a diving computer. Since the watch can be submerged to a depth of 40 meters, this is not just marketing.
Interestingly, Apple did not develop the application itself. Even in the press release, the company says that it was created together with Huish Outdoors, which specializes in diving products.
Huish Outdoors specialists note that one of their main tasks was to make the software intuitive and convenient, since diving computers are usually very specific in this matter.
Oceanic+, among other things, allows you, for example, to plan your dive by specifying time, depth and other parameters in advance. The application is able, based on the input data, to calculate the no-decompression time, an indicator used to determine the time limit for a diver at a certain depth. The planner also takes into account diving conditions, including tides, water temperature, and even up-to-date information from the diving community, such as visibility and current strength.
AMOLED, sapphire crystal, SpO2, GPS and NFC, 14 days without recharging, app support. Xiaomi Watch S1 Pro fell in price in China
Xiaomi has announced a price reduction for the Xiaomi Mi Watch S1 Pro smartwatch, which was introduced in August this year. In China, the price has dropped from $225 to $205.
The watch received a 1.47-inch AMOLED screen protected by sapphire glass with a resolution of 480 x 480 pixels. There is also an Always On Display feature. The case is waterproof (up to 5 ATM), and the screen is covered with sapphire crystal. The 500 mAh battery in Watch S1 Pro will provide up to 14 days of use in standard mode. A 10-minute charge will allow the watch to work for two days. The watch will be fully charged in about 85 minutes.
Xiaomi Watch S1 Pro is equipped with GPS and NFC modules, Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi. The watch offers heart rate monitoring, a pulse oximeter, calories burned, steps taken, and a 24-hour stress monitor. The watch received 117 different sports modes and the function of making voice calls via Bluetooth using a noise reduction algorithm during a call.
The watch can also control devices at home, such as turning on the lights or changing the volume of the TV. There is support for third-party applications.
