Sales of the latest Huawei Band 7 fitness bracelet have started in China. In this generation, the company has focused on compactness – the screen bezels are once again reduced, the case thickness has decreased to 9.99 mm, and the weight is only 16 grams.
Huawei Band 7 received a fairly large AMOLED display with a diagonal of 1.47 inches and a resolution of 368 x 194 pixels. There are 96 training modes, heart rate and SpO2 sensors, sleep and menstrual cycle monitoring functions.
Huawei Band 7 is protected from water (5ATM) and works offline for up to 14 days. The cost of the regular version of the fitness bracelet is $41, the cost of the version with the built-in NFC module is $47. By the way, before the start of sales, it became known that the new product supports the installation of third-party applications.

Bloomberg talks about iOS 16 and Apple Watch non-invasive blood glucose monitor

Editor Mark Gurman of Bloomberg has published new information about the iOS 16 operating system, which is due to be announced at Apple’s WWDC developer conference. The event will begin on June 6 this year.
A Bloomberg writer was asked which of Apple’s operating systems he thought would get the most attention at WWDC, and he replied: “As usual, it will probably be iOS. In this case, iOS 16.” Gurman added that he doesn’t expect a “complete redesign” of the operating system, but expects to see what he calls “new ways to interact.” The update, he said, will include “fresh Apple apps.” Gurman said last month that he expects iOS 16 to bring a new updated notification system and new health tracking capabilities.
Earlier leaks have revealed a new “mega-widget” supposedly known internally as InfoShack. This will allow iOS users to create custom widgets. As for watchOS 9, a Bloomberg writer previously mentioned that the blood pressure sensor won’t appear on the Apple Watch until 2024 at the earliest, with users able to get a low power mode and improved scanning for atrial fibrillation (AFib).
There were rumors that a non-invasive blood glucose sensor would appear in the watch. This would save millions of insulin dependent Americans the pain and expense of donating blood before every meal. Currently, this is done by applying a drop of blood to an expensive disposable test strip to obtain a reading of a diabetic’s blood glucose levels. These readings are used to determine the dose of insulin that a diabetic should inject before eating.
However, there are many problems associated with creating such a sensor, and Mark Gurman does not expect Apple to be able to implement such a feature in its watches within a few years.

The latest Google Pixel Watch smartwatch may get the Samsung Exynos 9110 platform from 2018

Google officially announced the Pixel Watch a few days ago, but did not reveal technical details. A full-fledged premiere of the novelty and the start of sales are expected in the fall, but there is already a rumor that the Pixel Watch will receive a very old platform.
Unnamed sources say that the Pixel Watch is based on the 10-nanometer Samsung Exynos 9110 single-chip system, released in August 2018. And even there is an explanation why it happened. Google reportedly started work on the Pixel Watch a few years ago with Android 9. At that time, the Exynos 9110 was still quite a modern platform. The transition to a more recent SoC would have entailed a delay in the development and start of sales, so the company apparently preferred to leave the starting platform.
The Exynos 9110 has been pretty heavily used in Samsung wearables. So, it was the basis of the original Galaxy Watch, released in the third quarter of 2018, and then used in the Galaxy Watch Active and Active 2, as well as the 2020 model Galaxy Watch 3. It should also be noted that Google is not chasing performance. For example, the SoC Tensor in the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro is inferior in performance to the top platforms of Qualcomm and MediaTek, but this does not bother Google.
