SK Hynix to build $ 106 billion mega-factory in South Korea

Citing a report from the South Korean media, the source claims that the South Korean government has given permission to SK Hynix to build a mega-factory designed to produce semiconductor products. The plant, which has been in the planning stage for a long time, will be located in Yongin, 50 kilometers south of Seoul. The company plans to begin construction in the fourth quarter of this year and complete all work and begin mass production of DRAM in 2025.
The mega-factory will have an area of 4.15 million m2, and the total construction cost is estimated at a whopping $ 106 billion. The complex will consist of four factories with a total production of about 800,000 wafers per month. At these facilities, it is planned to master the DRAM technologies of the current and next generation.
