Semiconductor Shortage Will Drive Electronics Prices In 2021

According to TheElec report, global semiconductor prices will rise due to a lack of manufacturing capacity. Some companies have already informed their customers about the price increase.
For example, TSMC, the world’s largest contract chip maker, recently canceled its pricing policy for major customers. Similar actions have been taken by GlobalFounderies, which reportedly uses 100% of its factories. South Korean tech giant Samsung Electronics is in a similar position.
Taiwan-based chipmakers UMC and VIS also increased their selling prices, while South Korean DB HiTek raised them by 20 percent. Their factories are also said to be 100 percent busy.
Analysts predict that this growth will automatically be reflected in the value of all consumer electronics in the coming year.
