Scientists have found out how Jupiter affects life on Earth

Scientists from the University of California have calculated how life conditions on Earth can change if the parameters of Jupiter’s orbit change. The study is published in the Astronomical Journal.

Scientists have found out how Jupiter affects life on Earth

Using data on the solar system, the authors of the work created its alternative model. It turned out that if the orbit of Jupiter became more elongated, this would lead to changes on Earth. Our planet would approach the Sun, as a result of which all our glaciers would melt. This would increase the area of the Earth suitable for life.

This conclusion refutes the belief that the Earth is an ideal planet for life, on which any change in the orbit of Jupiter could only have a negative impact. However, Jupiter could still wipe out much of life on Earth: if it were closer to the Sun, it would change the tilt of the Earth. In this case, a significant part of the planet could freeze.

The scientists’ findings could be useful in the search for habitable exoplanets, as astronomers now focus on the distance between a planet and its star, not taking into account the shape of the orbit and the inclination of the planets. In addition, the work will help to understand what impact Jupiter has had on the Earth’s climate in the past and how it can change us again in the future.

Samsung Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 smartphones received Android 13, but not official – as part of the LineageOS project and LineageOS 20 firmware.

10-year-old Samsung Galaxy Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 received Android 13. True, unofficial

We are talking about an early assembly of LineageOS 20, in which a number of functions do not work: NFC, Bluetooth sound transmission during a call, memory card. Known issues are expected to be fixed as the firmware is updated.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 are ten years old, and you should not expect older devices running the latest Android 13 to run smoothly. Both smartphones had flagship specs for their time, but the 1GB and 2GB of RAM in the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 might not be enough for a full system at the moment.

Recall that the basic versions of the Samsung Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 were running Android 4.0.4 and 4.1.1, respectively. Android 4.3 and 4.4.4, respectively, were released as the final software versions for these smartphones.

The Radeon RX 6800 XT can be made as fast

The GeForce RTX 40 graphics cards are already presented and will soon begin to hit the market, and the Radeon RX 7000 will also be released towards the end of the year. But is it worth buying new ones if you can get by with the RX 6000 line, significantly speeding it up?

The Radeon RX 6800 XT can be made as fast as the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti. RMP application introduced

Renowned developer and enthusiast Yuri Bubliy (1usmus) created the Radeon Monster Profile (RMP) application, which allows you to significantly increase the performance of current generation AMD adapters. From the name it is clear that in fact we are talking about overclocking profiles, but not everything is so simple. The author describes his brainchild as a combination of unique settings and voltage parameters. Thanks to RMP, the performance of RX 6000 cards can be significantly improved.

As you can see, for example, Yuri took the RX 6800 XT, the core frequency of which, thanks to the settings, increased by 300 MHz, which provides an increase of 11-13% and allows this card to bypass the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti at least in 3DMark, which even now is almost twice as expensive. At the same time, the profiles are designed in such a way that the operating voltage is reduced by 6%, which allows you not to worry about excessive heating.

The application is expected later this year.

Indestructible smartphone Samsung Galaxy Xcover6 Pro with a replaceable battery

The smartphone was dismantled on the PBKreviews channel, while it received very good reviews for maintainability. After all, battery replacement is one of the most popular types of repair.

Samsung used standard Phillips screws. In addition, the 3.5mm headphone jack is on a separate module that is held in place by a screw. It takes some disassembly to get to it, but it’s not soldered to the board. The USB-C charging port is on a separate circuit board, and there are spring contacts underneath it and below the speaker assembly.

At 9.9mm thin and 235g, the Samsung Galaxy Xcover6 Pro is thicker and heavier than most phones with 6.6-inch displays and 4050 mAh batteries for the sake of security and repair-friendly design.
