Samsung’s sales and operating profit up year-over-year
Samsung Electronics today published a forecast that includes the main financial results of the past quarter, i.e. the first quarter of 2022.
According to the manufacturer’s calculations, sales for the quarter were KRW 76-78 trillion and operating income was KRW 14.0-14.2 trillion. These values are calculated in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (K-IFRS). South Korea’s rules for publishing this kind of financial information do not allow range forecasts, so the company also posted averages of KRW 52 trillion in sales and KRW 8.1 trillion in operating income.
For comparison, the manufacturer cited these values from the report for the previous quarter and from the report for the first quarter of last year. Sales were 65.39 trillion won in the first quarter of 2021 and 76.57 trillion won in the fourth quarter. Operating income was 9.38 trillion won and 13.87 trillion won respectively. In other words, Samsung’s sales and operating income have grown significantly year-on-year.

Threadripper 7000 will switch to a new socket and a new Zen 4 architecture. This will bring them support for DDR5 memory, probably PCIe 5.0 interface. In addition, the top-end Threadripper 7000s are expected to be 96-core, just like their sister Epyc Genoa.

The cost of the basic version of new items with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of flash memory is $190. The variant with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of flash memory is priced at $220. Sales in China will start on March 24.
