Samsung is working closely with Google on a number of fronts. Today, the Korean giant announced an expanded partnership with Google to take smart home system compatibility to the next level.

Samsung will work even closer with Google. Companies simplify building smart home systems with mutual support of SmartThings and Google Home

In the coming months, Samsung Galaxy device users will be able to connect Matter-compatible devices to both the SmartThings and Google Home ecosystems. This will simplify the creation of a smart home system for those who would like to use devices from different ecosystems.

When users sign in to the SmartThings app, they will be made aware of Matter devices that have been set up with Google Home and will be given the choice to easily connect those devices to SmartThings and vice versa. Now, whether users want to control their smart home with the SmartThings app or the Google Nest Hub, the devices will always be there. Users don’t have to manually add each of their devices one at a time or worry about which ecosystem their device was set up in first.

It is also worth noting that the Matter standard is also supported by Apple, Amazon, Huawei and many others.

Apples greed or the real problem Apple stores warn against

The iPhone 15 finally gets a USB-C port, something many have been waiting for. But after the start of sales, it became clear that everything with this function is very ambiguous. So, as it turned out, not all cables from famous brands are compatible with the iPhone 15, and now official Apple stores in China have even begun to dissuade users from using cables for Android smartphones with the iPhone 15.

Apple's greed or the real problem? Apple stores warn against using 15 USB-C cables for Android smartphones with iPhones

The first such store was the Apple Store in Foshan (Guangdong Province), but now users report that they have begun to receive similar recommendations from other stores. Points of sale believe that using third-party cables may cause overheating. This is due to the peculiarities of the location of the contacts.

Such recommendations caused a flurry of criticism against official Apple stores. Firstly, many have already been able to verify the compatibility of their brand new iPhone 15 with third-party cables. Secondly, there is an opinion that in this way Apple persuades users to purchase original cables, which are much more expensive than third-party ones.

Is everything new well forgotten old The latest SoC

About a week ago, Qualcomm introduced the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 single-chip system, and even then we noted that the platform turned out to be strange: it turned out to be slower even than the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1. Now the situation has become a little clearer: Qualcomm went along the beaten path more expensive than MediaTek and simply renamed one SoC to another . To be fair, we note that the matter was not limited to just renaming: the new single-chip system received an increase in CPU frequencies of 150-200 MHz.

The table clearly shows that Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 is a slightly overclocked Snapdragon 6 Gen 1: the frequency of the ARM Cortex-A55 cores increased by 150 MHz, the ARM Cortex A78 cores increased by 200 MHz. And that is all. There are no other differences between these single-chip systems: Qualcomm didn’t even change the modem. Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 scores about 30 thousand more points in AnTuTu, but this is precisely due to the increase in frequencies.
