Samsung Under Panel Camera will be used in smartphones, laptops and TVs of the company

Last week, Samsung posted a video showing a Galaxy smartphone with a camera under the screen. Perhaps this is the Galaxy Note 21 Ultra, which is expected later this year.

Now it became known that Samsung Display has applied for trademark registration in South Korea. The UPC trademark was registered on January 15, 2021. This abbreviation is used to mean Under Panel Camera or sub-screen camera.

The trademark description states that Samsung wants to use the name in new smartphones, laptops and smart TVs. It is not yet clear which Galaxy smartphone will first feature this technology.

Samsung is not the only company that is working in this direction. In mid-2019, Oppo and Xiaomi have already shown smartphones with a camera under the display. Last year Xiaomi announced that it has already prepared the third generation of the sub-screen camera.

Also, the ZTE Axon 20 5G smartphone with a sub-screen camera has already been presented on the market, but in terms of image quality it is inferior to the usual solutions.

Unexpectedly LG uses Samsung OLED panels in its thin and

LG announced the next generation Gram thin and light laptops powered by 13th Gen Intel Core processors at last CES and will be on sale soon. OLED screens are a feature of the devices: the 16-inch model received a display with a resolution of 3200 x 2000 pixels with a frame rate of 120 Hz, the 14-inch model with a resolution of 2880 x 1800 pixels and a frame rate of 90 Hz. But, as it turned out now, LG orders panels for its laptops from its main competitor in the market – Samsung.

Unexpectedly: LG uses Samsung OLED panels in its thin and light Gram laptops

The whole point, corny, is the cost of the panels. LG could equip the Gram with its own OLED screens, but they are plastic-backed and more expensive than Samsung’s (glass-backed) ones. Well, the inclusion of a more expensive component in the laptop design will lead to an increase in the cost of the device, or to a decrease in marginality. In order not to choose between two evils, LG simply bought OLED panels from a competitor.

The Fujitsu UH-X/H1, an ultra-light 14-inch laptop, is introduced. Its weight is only 689 grams

The weight of the 14-inch Fujitsu UH-X/H1 is only 689 grams, while the novelty cannot boast of the minimum case thickness – it lies in the range from 15.8 to 17.3 mm. Light weight is achieved through body materials: the lid is made of carbon fiber, the bottom is made of magnesium-lithium alloy, and the keyboard is made of durable and lightweight magnesium alloy.

The Fujitsu UH-X / H1 laptop received a 14-inch screen with a resolution of 1920×1200 pixels, an Intel Core i7-1355U processor, 16 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and a 512 GB PCIe 4.0 SSD.
