Samsung has announced that the Irregular Heart Rhythm Notification (IHRN) feature in its Galaxy Watch smartwatch has received US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval. This function is responsible for detecting an irregular heart rate, which may indicate atrial fibrillation.
The new feature will be available in the One UI 5 skin, which will initially appear on the new Galaxy Watch 6 smartwatches. But then the Watch 5 and Watch 4 models will also receive this skin, so the IHRN function will also be available for them.
We are pleased to announce that the Food and Drug Administration has approved an irregular heart rhythm notification feature designed to help millions of people around the world who may not be aware of the potential risk. This is yet another example of how Samsung prioritizes proactive security solutions and allows users to gain a more holistic view of their cardiovascular and overall health.
Recall that the ECG function on Samsung and Apple watches was approved by the FDA a few years ago.

The rotating bezel, which Samsung removed from the Galaxy Watch 5, will appear in the new watch, according to images of the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic shared by a reputable insider OnLeaks.
If the renders are true, then the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic will look like the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic. The watch is shown in a completely black matte metal case with a silicone bracelet with a magnetic clasp. The Galaxy Watch 6 series is expected to provide sleep tracking, body composition analysis, a heart rate sensor, a temperature sensor, GPS, NFC, and a barometer. There are also rumors that the device is equipped with a 425 mAh battery.
The company is expected to unveil the watch at the Galaxy Unpacked event, which is rumored to take place on July 26th.
OnLeaks previously released renderings of the Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro, Samsung Galaxy S22, Sony Xperia XZ4, Google Pixel 4 XL, Huawei Mate 40 Pro, Sony Xperia 10 III before their official release, and all of these leaks have subsequently been confirmed.
