After four years of support, Samsung has officially stopped rolling out Android updates for its flagship smartphones, the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ released in 2018. This change has been brewing for a long time: recently, Samsung only supported the Galaxy S9 series with quarterly updates.

Samsung launched the Galaxy S9 series just over four years ago at the end of March 2018. The series was relatively well-received, but could not match the sales of the previous Samsung Galaxy S8 series.

For the time being, Samsung is still offering quarterly Android updates for the Galaxy Note 9, which was released later in 20118. The latest major update for the Galaxy S9 is Android 10.

At the same time, Samsung has also reduced the frequency of updates for the Galaxy S10 to quarterly. The phone was last updated in March. The phone should continue to receive updates until around this time next year before support ends entirely.
