Samsung Display will release 11 million flexible screens for smartphones, of which only 1 million will appear in Chinese smartphones

ETNews reports that Samsung Display has signed a deal to supply foldable displays to smartphone manufacturers in China. The displays are slated to begin shipping in the third quarter, with over a million foldable screens shipped by the end of the year.
Several foldable phones from Chinese manufacturers will be announced in the second half of 2021. According to insiders, such phones will be produced by Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo and other companies. Samsung Display will ship screens similar to those found in the Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip.
So far, Samsung Electronics has been the only buyer of foldable Samsung Display panels, with Samsung Display planning to expand its customer base. Huawei wanted to buy flexible screens from Samsung Display, but due to the sanctions, plans changed. Instead, Huawei uses foldable displays from BOE.
Samsung Display is projected to release 11 million foldable screens this year. About 1 million will go to China, with the rest for Samsung Electronics smartphones.
