Samsung “breaks through”: Android 12 update with One UI 4 was released in many countries at once on Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 and S7 +

This week Samsung has taken a hit in the good sense of the word, releasing updates to Android 12 with One UI 4 for a wide variety of devices.

The company first resumed distribution of the One UI 4 update for the Galaxy S21, Galaxy Z Fold3 and Flip3 families. Then the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20 + and Galaxy S20 Ultra, Galaxy S20 FE and the Galaxy Note20 family received the firmware, and ahead of schedule. Yesterday, the update arrived on the Galaxy S10e, S10 and S10 + smartphones, which will soon be three years old, and now it is the turn of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 and S7 + tablets.

Both of these devices are now getting One UI 4 based on Android 12 in Europe. The update is available in countries such as Austria, the Baltic States, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Nordic countries, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

This is rather unusual for Samsung, as the company usually launches new software first in one or more countries and then gradually adds more and more territories over time. However, this time the company decided to immediately cover most of Europe.

It is quite possible that a compact smartphone from the founder of Pebble will appear on the market in the foreseeable future.

Eric Migicovsky, who founded the acclaimed Pebble, is literally now gathering a new team to release a compact smartphone with Andorid. In fact, at the moment there is no company that will eventually be created for these purposes. Now the Small Android Phone team is only discussing options, but even now the participants are trying to decide on the characteristics.

The team now includes several former Pebble employees, including the founder, GoPro designer, MongoBD manager, and other enthusiasts. Interestingly, it all started, in fact, simply with the cry of Migikowski on the Web for someone to make a good compact smartphone. But, as we know, even the iPhone mini sold very mediocrely.

However, perhaps they were too small. The Small Android Phone team has not yet finalized the dimensions, but has repeatedly mentioned, firstly, that the screen should be less than 6.1 inches diagonally, and secondly, the participants often mentioned ZenFone 9 with a 5-screen diagonal as a reference point. 9 inches.

The team’s designer even already has a number of sketches, although it’s hard to say what the smartphone will be like in the end. But the team definitely focuses on good photo opportunities as well. In addition, apparently, the emphasis will be placed on the materials of the case, along with the tactile sensations of users.

In terms of performance, the smartphone will definitely be very powerful, but not necessarily one of the best. The team is currently looking at two platforms: the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 and a mid-range Qualcomm chip that has yet to be released. Although, perhaps, this meant the new SoC Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 2, which was just announced the other day, but has not yet hit the market. By the way, such a selection of platforms hints that the smartphone will not be released sometime in a few years, but relatively soon. Perhaps in a year and a half.

There is a guideline for the price: about $ 850.

Employees of Apple and Twitter are driven to the offices

Zoe Schiffer, who was recently managing editor of Twitter and now holds the same position at Platformer, said that Apple strictly monitors how employees visit offices.

Apple tracks employee attendance (using electronic badge records) and alerts employees if they don’t show up to the office at least 3 times a week.

Some at Apple, according to Schiffer, say that non-compliance could lead to dismissal, but she added that this does not seem like company policy.
