Rostec plans to certify the PD-8 engine for domestic aircraft SSJ New and Be-200 in June 2023
The United Engine Corporation (UEC, part of Rostec) plans to obtain a certificate for the PD-8 engine for domestic aircraft SSJ New and Be-200 in June 2023. This was announced by Deputy Director General – General Designer of UEC JSC Yuri Shmotin.
“We have tested the first prototypes. The next stage is testing a new engine as part of a flying laboratory. Next – the transfer of engines for testing as part of the SSJ New – already in the aircraft. By the end of next year, full certification with the aircraft is planned. We have a planned date for obtaining a type certificate for the engine – next summer“, – he said.
The presence of this document will confirm compliance with the requirements of airworthiness, safety and environmental friendliness of aviation regulations.
The interlocutor of the agency said that the creation of the PD-8 power plant for short-haul aircraft SSJ New is in the broad cooperation of UEC enterprises. The engine design uses only domestic materials and components. “All systems are developed from scratch, domestic parts and assemblies are used at all levels – these are control systems, fuel systems, and so on. We are designing the engine to be more economical, fuel consumption is improved, and for airlines this is essential, because they care about efficiency.“, – said Shmotin.
Work on the project is being carried out taking into account the timing of the certification of the SSJ New aircraft with the PD-8 engine. In the design and production of PD-8, design solutions, materials and technologies worked out in the course of other UEC projects are used, which significantly reduces the development cost and technical risks of successful project implementation. The use of digital twin technologies and parallel engineering helps to withstand tight deadlines for creating a new product.

But this will not happen in the Nubia Z60 Ultra: the corresponding module will have a fast (F/1.8) 50-megapixel 1/1.56-inch optical format sensor, complemented by an eight-element lens and an optical stabilization system. In general, this model will have triple OIS – in each of the three modules.
The official premiere of Nubia Z60 Ultra will take place on December 19. The smartphone will receive Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, a 6000 mAh battery and IP68 protection.
