Rival Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 and Samsung Galaxy Tab S7. Lenovo is preparing a flagship tablet with Snapdragon 870
It rarely happens when a manufacturer shares details about a device in development, but this is the case now. Lin Lin, product manager for Lenovo’s laptop division, posted a screenshot of the company’s upcoming tablet on Weibo. Judging by which single-chip system it is built on, we are talking about a flagship device.
The promising novelty is based on SoC Snapdragon 870, which automatically makes it a competitor to Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 and Samsung Galaxy Tab S7. The tablet received 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of flash memory. The OS is Android 11 with ZUI 12.5 interface.
Apparently, the new product will be one step higher than last year’s model Lenovo Xiaoxin Pad Pro. It is, recall, built on SoC Snapdragon 730G, equipped with an OLED screen with a diagonal of 11.5 inches with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels, 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of flash memory, as well as SoC Snapdragon 730G and four speakers. Xiaomi today unexpectedly announced a new product – the Xiaomi Mi Tablet 5 Pro tablet with a 12.4-inch screen. The head of Xiaomi showed the official image, which shows the device from both sides.
The Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 Pro tablet with a large screen will receive a frame of the same width, and the module on the rear panel looks the same as in the Xiaomi 12 series smartphones. The main 50-megapixel module is accompanied by two additional cameras.
It is worth noting that the market for tablets of this size has always been occupied by the iPad Pro, and now the large Xiaomi Mi Tablet 5 Pro will challenge this model.
The presentation of the device is expected on August 11.
A new Xiaomi device with part number 22081281AC has been spotted in the Geekbench benchmark. The source associates this number with the forthcoming Redmi Pad 5G tablet computer.
Perhaps the most important news is the use of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 single-chip system in the device. Exactly the same is used in the top Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro tablet (and it, by the way, also supports 5G). So the Redmi tablet in terms of performance will not differ from the current flagship.
Xiaomi 22081281AC also received 8 GB of RAM and a preinstalled Android 12 OS. Previously, the tablet was credited with an IPS screen with a diagonal of 10.61 inches and a resolution of 2000 x 1200 pixels, as well as a 7800 mAh battery.
It is not yet clear when the premiere of the novelty will take place, but in general Redmi Pad 5G may be presented as early as August or September. According to rumors, the device will be inexpensive.
Apple could significantly expand its smart home product line over the next two years, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. In his latest Power On newsletter, he stated that the company has at least four new smart home devices.
This list includes a new HomePod model that will complement the updated HomePod mini. The new device will be similar to the 2018 model. Two new products are also expected. One of them is a kind of hybrid between an iPad and a smart speaker. It will combine the functionality of Apple TV, camera and HomePod.
According to Gurman, such a decision will be released by the end of 2023 or early 2024. The novelty will compete with the Nest Hub and Echo Show 15 from Google and Amazon, respectively.
