Repairability of Huawei Mate 40 Pro by iFixit Rating Lower than Apple iPhone 12
Disassembly experts from iFixit got to the Huawei Mate 40 Pro smartphone, but after examining the internal structure of the device, they came to disappointing conclusions. It will be almost impossible for an ordinary user to replace parts on his own or at least remove the cover without damaging the system elements. And this despite the completely modular design of the smartphone.
The weak points of smartphones with a glass body are the cracking of the display and the body lid when knocked or dropped. Removing the cover of the Huawei Mate 40 Pro by yourself may damage the elements. To lift it, iFixit craftsmen had to heat, pry and even trim the panel.
During the disassembly, there were some unpleasant surprises due to the use of hidden flexible cables. One of them was accidentally damaged during disassembly.
Enthusiasts have found that the display is firmly glued with a thick layer of glue (the manufacturer clearly did not regret it). However, the display cannot be replaced without removing the battery, and the display must be removed to replace the fingerprint reader.
Although real chaos is happening inside the smartphone, the fully modular design speaks in favor of the model, which allows you to disconnect and replace any element of the smartphone. True, you still need to get to it without damaging other components.
As a result – 4 points on the iFixit 10-point maintainability scale for Huawei Mate 40 Pro. For comparison, the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro have a score of 6.
Thus, the owners of this model are not recommended to undertake the repair of the device on their own, and it is better to entrust the procedure itself to certified service centers.

Japanese Sony smartphones will become a little Chinese? The company is thinking about transferring its devices to the Flyme OS shell

Sony does not leave the idea of using Meizu’s Flyme OS shell in its smartphones.
At the moment, some devices of the Japanese giant in China are shipped out of the box with a number of applications and widgets from Flyme OS, but the source says that Sony is thinking about fully using the shell in their devices.
This is hinted at by a new survey conducted by Sony among users of Xperia smartphones. One of the questions just concerned the attitude of users to the possible integration of Flyme OS.
Recall that Sony became interested in the Meizu shell last year, signing relevant agreements with the company. So far, this initiative is limited to China, but it is not a fact that in the end Flyme OS will not become the main shell for global Xperia models.
