Renault engines will appear in Geely cars
Reuters, citing its sources, reported that the Chinese Geely and a certain oil company are negotiating the purchase of part of the engine division of the French auto giant Renault.
According to Reuters, Renault plans to spin off its conventional combustion engine business from its EV business. Thus, 40% of the ICE division will be bought by Geely, another 20% by the oil company, and 40% of the business will remain under the control of Renault.
Renault is reportedly due to officially announce the creation of a division dedicated to electric vehicles this fall.
In general, Geely and Renault already have a lot in common. So, the Chinese company will help the French company to promote electric vehicles in China, and Geely will buy part of the South Korean business of Renault, which will open the Chinese access to the US market.

Why do you need HDMI in a car? New Mitsubishi Outlander presented

The mid-size Mitsubishi Outlander crossover has been improved in terms of equipment for the Japanese market in the new model year.
In addition to the existing USB-C and USB-A connectors, the car now has HDMI, which allows for easy transfer of images from a mobile device to the display of a multimedia system. Owners can play video games, high-definition movies or navigation map data.
All Outlander models now come with headlight washers and rear fog lights. The color range of the crossover has been replenished with two new options: gray metallic in a graphite shade and a combined color with a silver metallic roof and black metallic body.
The Black Edition, which features gloss black trim, now comes standard with a third row of seats, a panoramic sunroof, head-up instrumentation and a Bose audio system.
The fourth generation Mitsubishi Outlander, based on the Renault-Nissan CMF-CD platform, is equipped with petrol engines, including hybrid variants, with power ranging from 161 to 252 hp.
The car is produced in Japan and China.

Mitsubishi will release two models based on Renault cars

Mitsubishi will add two more models from the Renault Group to expand its range in Europe, starting with a compact all-electric crossover from Renault’s Ampere EV division in 2025.
The Japanese automaker, following the compact crossover, will release another model, called “a derivative of Renault,” as stated by top managers of the Renault-Nissan alliance, without going into details. The car will be manufactured by Renault rather than Ampere and is expected to be powered by an internal combustion engine.
In Europe, Mitsubishi, which is majority owned by Nissan, now sells the Colt small car, based on the Renault Clio, and the ASX, a small crossover based on the Renault Captur. The Mitsubishi Colt and ASX models are manufactured by Renault.
The new electric crossover “will be a key element of our lineup,” Alex Thomas, head of marketing at Mitsubishi Europe, told Automotive News Europe. “Our strategy is to focus on core segments in Europe,” he added.
Mitsubishi has published a teaser of an electric crossover, which in profile resembles the Renault Scenic E-Tech. Mitsubishi did not specify which Renault model it would be based on, but said it would be built on Scenic’s Alliance CMF-EV platform, which has been renamed AmpR Medium.
Next year, Mitsubishi will launch a new version of its Outlander plug-in hybrid midsize SUV, which was discontinued in Europe in 2021.
