Panasonic has introduced a new rugged tablet with a removable battery, which is a rarity in our time.
The tablet is quite thick, which is not surprising given its rugged design. 7-inch display has a resolution of 1280 x 800 and a brightness of 500 cd / m22… The screen supports glove operation, and Panasonic has also added a rain mode that will keep the screen as responsive as the rest of the time.
The tablet is based on the Snapdragon 660 SoC, it has 4GB of RAM and 64GB of flash memory, as well as a memory card slot. There is a built-in barcode scanner, a full-size USB-A port and a USB-C connector. The tablet complies with IP67 protection and the requirements of the American military standard MIL-STD-810H. It can withstand drops to a hard surface from heights of up to 1.5 m.
The tablet has a hot-swappable battery, that is, the device does not turn off, as it contains another small battery. Panasonic will sell replacement batteries in various capacities.
The Panasonic Toughbook S1 comes in Wi-Fi and LTE versions. It runs Android 10 out of the box, but the company will update it to Android 12. This commercial-grade device starts at $ 2,499.
