Redmi K40 will be powered by the new Snapdragon 7350 platform

Chinese insiders suddenly discovered extremely entertaining information about a new smartphone from Redmi. The guys dug into the code of the fresh MIUI 12 firmware and suddenly found there mentions of a certain device running on the Snapdragon 700 series. It was immediately suggested that this is the base model from the Redmi K40 series.

The hardware platform for the smartphone is a chipset codenamed SM7350. And in theory, this is a continuation of the current mid-range Snapdragon 765G. And it goes without saying that this chipset will be installed in mid-budget smartphones. Insiders assure that this new chipset will be the main competitor for Samsung’s Exynos1080. And that’s pretty interesting because the Exynos 1080 is a pretty fat thing. 5 nanometers, a lot of performance, and even 5G is on board. Mediatek TM6893 can also be attributed to direct competitors, in principle.

A prototype smartphone running on this platform was able to get a very solid 530 thousand points in the AnTuTu benchmark tests. And this means that the chipset is already significantly better than the Snapdragon 765G. But so far, he still hasn’t made it to the not-so-relevant flagship in the face of Snapdragon 865, which is pretty sad. But still, this is an average, so he is forgiven.

In addition, if we consider that the base Redmi K30, which was presented at the very end of 2019, was powered by Snapdragon 765G, then we can safely assume that Redmi K40 will also receive the latest platform from Qualcomm. After all, Xiaomi loves to be the first and unique everywhere. Well, the rest of the Redmi K40 series smartphones will run on Snapdragon 888, of course. This has already been officially announced and all that.

So far, no details about the Redmi K40 series have been found, which is rather strange. But already on the sly, the head of Redmi, Lu Weibing, begins to throw all sorts of interesting insights into the network. At the very least, he said that Redmi K40 Pro will be the cheapest smartphone on Snapdragon 888.
