Redmi introduced a “fiery” TV for $145. This is the brand’s first model running Amazon Fire OS 7

Redmi has launched its first Amazon FireOS TV in India. The model, which is quite simple in terms of characteristics, turned out to be inexpensive: you can buy the device for $145 (including a special offer from the bank). The retail price of the model is slightly higher – $170.

The device is equipped with a screen with a diagonal of 32 inches with a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels and a frame rate of 60 Hz. There is a built-in speaker system with two speakers with a total power of 20 W, support for Dolby Audio, DTS-HD and DTS Virtual: X technologies.

The hardware platform uses an SoC with four Arm Cortex-A35 cores and an Arm Mali-G31 MP2 GPU. The amount of RAM is 1 GB, flash memory – 8 GB. The software platform is Amazon Fire OS 7 with proprietary voice assistant Alexa.

The configuration also includes a dual-band Wi-Fi adapter, Bluetooth 5.0, a pair of HDMI ports and a pair of USB ports.

An international team of astronomers has discovered a rare brown

An international team of astronomers studying data from the Next Generation Transit Survey (NGTS) has found a new brown dwarf. The object, named NGTS-28Ab, orbits its parent star every 30 hours.

Brown dwarfs are objects located between planets and stars. They have a mass from 13 to 80 times that of Jupiter and amount to 0.012 – 0.076 solar masses. Although many of these objects have been discovered to date, brown dwarfs orbiting other stars are rare.

Led by Beth A. Henderson of the University of Leicester in the UK, astronomers studied the binary system NGTS-28 using data from NGTS and NASA’s TESS exoplanet transit satellite. They discovered a rare brown dwarf.

NGTS-28A is the main star of the system. Subsequent observations confirmed that NGTS-28Ab is indeed a brown dwarf. It was also observed by the South African Astronomical Observatory SAAO.

NGTS-28Ab is slightly smaller than Jupiter in size, 0.95 times the radius of Jupiter, but 69 times more massive. Its density is 98.7 g/cm³. The brown dwarf orbits its parent star at a distance of about 0.02 astronomical units every 30.1 hours. The object’s temperature is about 863 Kelvin and its age is estimated at at least 500 million years.

The main star of the NGTS-28A system has a size and mass approximately half that of the Sun. Its temperature is 3626 Kelvin and its age is approximately 7 billion years. The second star in the system, NGTS-28B, has a similar temperature but is smaller in size and mass. The system is located approximately 404 light years from Earth.

NGTS-28Ab has one of the shortest periods in the “brown dwarf desert,” a name given to a region with no objects orbiting very close to the main stars (within 3 AU). NGTS-28Ab orbits one of the hottest M dwarfs in this desert.

This discovery has major implications for understanding the “brown dwarf desert.” It was previously thought that the rarity of brown dwarfs was due to an overlap between the mechanisms of planet and star formation. NGTS-28Ab, orbiting one of the hottest M dwarfs, provides new opportunities to study and model these parameters.

The researchers hope that further studies of NGTS-28Ab and other similar objects will help expand knowledge about the formation of brown dwarfs and their role in the evolution of stellar systems. This could have significant implications for our understanding of the processes that lead to the formation of planets and stars.

India plans to send a helicopter to Mars

India plans to send a helicopter on a new mission to Mars, following the example of the innovative Ingenuity, which has impressed the world with its achievements. As reported by India Today, the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) is working on a concept that would include a helicopter and a Mars orbiter. The launch of the mission is planned for the early 2030s.

India’s first mission to Mars, the Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) or Mangalyaan, launched in 2013 and reached the Red Planet’s orbit in 2014. She conducted scientific research for eight years, but contact with her was lost in 2022.

ISRO’s next mission to Mars will be more ambitious. Scientists from the Space Physics Laboratory at the Vikram Sarabhai Space Center spoke about plans to use the helicopter in the mission. It will carry a set of devices for studying the atmosphere of Mars. Among them are a sensor for temperature, humidity, pressure, wind speed, electric field, as well as dust sensors for measuring the vertical distribution of dust aerosols.

The helicopter will have to fly at an altitude of up to 100 meters above the surface of Mars to fully study its atmosphere. Compared to Ingenuity, which reached a height of 24 meters and covered 17 kilometers of horizontal distance, this device will have greater capabilities.

Ingenuity, a helicopter that began exploring Mars with Perseverance in 2021, showed that flight is possible in the planet’s thin atmosphere and exceeded all expectations. It successfully completed 72 flights and terminated its mission in January 2024 due to damage to its blades.

Not only India, but also other countries, inspired by the achievements of NASA, are working on creating their own Martian drones. For example, China is developing a drone that could play an important role in the mission to return samples from Mars.
