Real Xiaomi Mi Air Charge presented

Xiaomi today unveiled the new next generation Mi Air Charge wireless charging technology, which allows you to charge multiple devices at the same time without using cables or a wireless charging cradle.
Mi Air Charge’s patented technology uses a special tower / box-shaped device that uses beamforming technology to send millimeter waves directly to the device. These waves are converted into electrical energy, which charges the device.
This “tower” has 5 phase antennas that help determine the location of a smartphone (or compatible device) in a room in milliseconds. It also has 144 antennas that transmit millimeter waves.
The compatible phone has two antenna units, similar to those found in the charger, but much smaller. The first is a radio beacon that communicates with the charging station, and the second is a receiving antenna array consisting of 14 antennas that receive millimeter waves that are converted into electrical energy.
Xiaomi has released a short video showing the new technology in action. The video shows the charging station, which is quite large. Xiaomi states that for now, Mi Air Charge technology supports simultaneous charging of multiple devices over long distances at a maximum power of 5W per device.
According to Adam Zeng Xuezhong, the new head of Xiaomi’s mobile division, it is planned to recharge wearable devices such as smartwatches and fitness trackers in the future using Mi Air Charge Technology. The technology is also expected to make it possible to charge other small household devices such as speakers and table lamps. The ultimate goal is to eliminate the need for wires.
