Raspberry Pi 5 was presented last Thursday, and the result of overclocking the latest version of the single-board computer has already been published. As it turns out, you can squeeze an additional 25% performance out of the Broadcom BCM2712 SoC.

Raspberry Pi 5 was overclocked a day after the announcement: the performance of the single-board computer was increased by 25%

It should be noted right away that the experiment was carried out with an optional cooling system called Active Cooler (price – only $5). It consists of a low-profile aluminum radiator and a small fan. Obviously, without its use, such a result would hardly have been achieved.

As a result of the experiment, the CPU frequency was raised by 600 MHz – up to 3.0 GHz. The frequency of the VideoCore VII GPU was increased by 300 MHz – up to 1.1 GHz. After this, the computer ran the Stressberry test for five minutes without any problems. In the stress test, the consumption was 10 W, the temperature was 69-74 ° C. In standby mode, consumption decreased to 3 W, temperature – to 46 ° C.

The performance increase was recorded in the Sysbench application: the single-threaded test result was 3423 points, the multi-threaded test was 13681 points. Both results are 25% higher than the regular version of Raspberry Pi 5, and almost twice as high as Raspberry Pi 4.

Windows 12 will be released in September October 2024 but its

The next big Windows 11 update is called Hudson Valley. It is so big that it will be released as Windows 12. Windows 11 “grew” from Windows 10 in approximately the same way, so there is nothing surprising.

Windows 12 will be released in September-October 2024, but its capabilities will be limited on many computers

Windows 12 will be released in the second half of 2024, according to Windows Central. At the same time, the RTM version will appear quite early – already in April, but the OS will be finalized only by August. And as a major over-the-air update to the current Windows 11, Windows 12 will be released in September or October 2024.

In Windows 12, the emphasis will be on AI: artificial intelligence will be “woven and integrated” throughout the operating system, and its work will require new hardware with an NPU – a neural processor, the purpose of which is to accelerate AI tasks. The only problem is that the NPU appeared only in the latest generations of Intel and AMD processors. Accordingly, on a PC with these processors, all system functions will work entirely, but on computers with conventional processors, without an NPU, the AI functions will be either limited or will not work at all.

The latest version of Raspberry Pi Zero has micro USB ports, BPI-M4 Zero has USB-C ports. Although both single board computers are equipped with Cortex-A53 processors, the Raspberry Pi 2 Zero W is equipped with a Broadcom BCM2710A chip clocked at 1 GHz, and the BPI-M4 Zero is equipped with an Allwinner H618 processor clocked at 1.5 GHz. The same chip is used in another Raspberry Pi Zero clone – Orange Pi Zero 2W.

Banana Pi BPI-M4 Zero received the following ports and connectors:

  • 1 x mini HDMI 2.0a;
  • 1 USB Type-C OTG port supporting 5V/3A input voltage;
  • 1 x USB Type C;
  • 1 microSD card reader;
  • 1 24-pin FPC (1 USB 2.0, 1 Ethernet 100 Mbps, 1 IR);
  • 1 x 40-pin connector;
  • 1 Wi-Fi 5 and BT 4.2 module.

The board has two status LEDs, a wireless antenna, and two hardware keys, including a reset button.

Fake Safari and Chrome updates for Mac contain malware that

New malware called Atomic macOS Stealer (AMOS), released in early 2023, targets Apple users. Using the latest version of malware, attackers inject AMOS into fake updates for Safari and Chrome browsers for Mac.

AMOS is a powerful piece of malware that, once installed on a victim’s computer, can steal iCloud Keychain passwords, credit card numbers, crypto wallets, files, and more.

After discovering the first AMOS threats in March and April, security researchers at Malwarebytes discovered in September that Mac users were installing AMOS through fake Google search ads.

Now, Malwarebytes reports that fake Safari and Chrome browser updates are now being used to install AMOS on victims’ Macs. The new AMOS approach is called ClearFake. Attackers use hacked websites to deliver fake Safari and Chrome updates.

Users are advised not to download software from untrusted or unknown sources – update Safari directly from your Mac in System Preferences or Chrome directly from Google or the Chrome app.
