Quantum materials to reduce energy consumption



Information and communication technologies use approximately 8% of the world’s electricity supply. This volume doubles every year, in part because of the use of transistors. Australian researchers have found that using a quantum material could reduce considerably the energy used in information and communication technologies.

These researchers found they could reduce tension and energy using a negative capacitor. They applied the negative capacity so that the transistors operate at a lower voltage. This technique would make it possible to greatly divide the energy losses and thus an optimal use of fossil energies.

These new types of quantum materials represent the future of information and communication technologies. Their use will certainly revolutionize the world and bring us closer to this long-awaited future ecological world.

Transistors waste energy

The transistors are electronic switches. In devices, they can be either on or off. To turn it on or off, you have to waste a tiny amount of energy each time. But devices, computers for example, contain billions of transistors that switch billions of times per second.

This constitutes a huge amount energy wasted in the form of heat. This wastage is partly due to the use of silicon for chips. These semiconductors are insulators that do not normally conduct current. Nevertheless, faced with a little additional electrical charge, they become conductive.

It is therefore this ability of silicon to activate and deactivate which is the basis of these transistor switchings. This therefore leads to a waste of energy that has made scientists think for several years.

Using negative capacitor could reduce losses

One negative capacitor is an electrical component that has a negative capacitance. It then charges without charging back. This is exactly the role of ferroelectrics which are used for the design of transistors. The advantage with a negative capacitor is the low voltage switching transistors.

Indeed, the addition of a negative capacity which is a ferroelectric material to make a transistor based on negative capacitance amplifies the electric field. This amplification makes it possible to switch to much lower voltages and energies, i.e. a use ten times lower than that of silicon.

This would be a solution for save energy. Although these findings are not yet applicable, the researchers expect to provide a clear plan very soon for reducing the energy of future transistors.

Integrate into AVoD platforms, another big step

For this reason, watching Tivify is similar to watching DTT, but with much more content, more channels, and in an interactive way, since all the functions of LovesTV are integrated into the platform, with the advantage of seeing it anywhere. The future of DTT depends on this, and in the long term the most logical thing is that the entire spectrum that DTT currently occupies becomes used by mobile telephony. To do this, the data rates they would have to be unlimited, or failing that, that all the traffic related to DTT does not count in the computation of the fee, which would probably go against net neutrality.

What is clear is that the fact that DTT channels are available on fast access platforms such as Tivify is key to their viability in the future. It would not be strange if Pluto TV ended up adding DTT channels, but in the meantime, we will still have official alternatives like Tivify, and others not so official like TDTChannels.

Enthusiast adds CarPlay support to Tesla



Tesla’s EV infotainment system is great in many ways, but it doesn’t support Apple CarPlay. This does not mean, however, that enthusiasts cannot add support. One such attempt was reported by a source.

At the same time, it was not necessary to make any changes to the Tesla hardware. Instead, the enthusiast bypassed Wi-Fi restrictions by allowing the Tesla Browser to connect to an additional device. As a result, the Tesla infotainment system shows a live video feed from the host device. The developer explained that the system uses a Raspberry Pi single-board computer with a special version of Android. The Android build used can run CarPlay, which allows you to display the entire system on a large display.

However, the system is not perfect. As the developer notes, the Wi-Fi connection needs some work to improve the smoothness of the display. He also says that when this is done, he plans to open the development to the general public.

This could be the next great Motorola flagship, according to leaks



The new year has only just begun, and previews of what we could bring to see throughout it are already arriving. In this sense, the publication TechnikNews has found evidence of what could become Motorola’s “next-generation” flagship, codenamed “Frontier”, pointing to some pretty high specs.

And it is that, among other aspects, it indicates that it would carry an improved version of the current Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, which may be called Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus, which has not been presented at the moment.

A high end above normal

In this regard, reference has been made to a hardware element with the code name “SM8475”, for now non-existent, taking into account that the current Snapdragon SoC, commercially known as Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, uses the code name “SM8450 », suggesting that the upward variation of the last two digits would point to a Plus version, although for now it would be speculation.

Snapdragon usually presents an improved version of the version of its SoC presented in December in the middle of the year, although with the recent change in the name of mobile processors we do not know if it will maintain this custom despite this.

In addition, in the leaked specifications there is also talk of a 6.67-inch curved FullHD+ OLED screen, which would have a 144Hz refresh rate.

This future model, let’s not forget that it is a first leak, It would also stand out for having a main camera with a 200MP Samsung HP1 sensor, accompanied by a 50MP ultra-wide-angle camera and a 12MP Sony IMX664 sensor telephoto camera.

The front camera is said to have a 60MP sensor from OmniVision, also having the Always on function of Qualcomm.

It also surprises with fast battery charging speeds, with up to 125W wired charging and 50W wireless fast charging.

The combination of RAM and internal storage will continue to be the most common at the moment, with a combination between 8GB and 12GB of RAM, and 128GB and 256GB of internal storage.

At the moment, the rest of the specifications of this future model are unknown, although with the data provided in the leak, everything suggests that it could take months to officially know this new device, so it would be enough to wait until after the summer, at least .
