Qualcomm took 70% of 5G baseband market in Q1 2021

Published

on

According to Strategy Analytics’ calculations for the first quarter of 2021, the baseband processor market grew 27% year over year to reach $ 7.4 billion. At the same time, shipments of models supporting 5G networks have tripled. The top five sales leaders include Qualcomm, MediaTek, Samsung LSI, Intel and Unisoc.

Qualcomm leads the market with a 53% market share. It is followed by MediaTek with 25% and Samsung LSI with 10%.

If we consider only models with support for 5G, Qualcomm’s share has increased to 70%. This is partly due to the displacement of HiSilicon products from the market through trade sanctions. For the first time in four years, a Chinese manufacturer has left the top five. Strategy Analytics believes that the American company Qualcomm is well positioned to further increase its supply.
