Porsche Taycan electric car drove 42 km in continuous drift, hitting the Guinness Book of Records

German electric car Porsche Taycan has set the world record for the longest drift for an electric vehicle, receiving the corresponding certificate from the Guinness Book of Records.

To do this, Porsche instructor Dennis Retera skidded 210 laps at an average speed of 46 km / h on the Porsche Experience Center (PEC) test track in Hockenheim, Germany, spending 55 minutes and covering a 42.171 km marathon. To be fair, we note that the track was a simple circle, the asphalt was continuously poured with water to facilitate gliding, and the racer used a rear-wheel drive (not all-wheel drive) version of the Porsche Taycan, which is currently sold exclusively in China.

After a record-breaking run, Dennis Retter praised the constant power level, low center of gravity, long wheelbase, rear-wheel drive and disabled stability features. He noted that due to the flow of water, the degree of grip on the asphalt was not the same everywhere, which made it difficult to complete the task, so he focused on skid control using the steering wheel rather than the accelerator pedal (this is more efficient and in addition reduces the risk of slipping).

Recall that this is far from the first record for the Porsche Taycan – it previously successfully passed a 24-hour endurance test, having driven 3425 km at a speed of 195-215 km / h on the highway in Nardo, Italy, and also set a record for four-door electric vehicles by driving a circle legendary Nurburgring in 7 min 42 sec.
