PlayStation 5 will not be easier to buy: Sony has reduced the production of consoles due to a shortage of components

Sony has lowered its forecast for the production of game consoles PlayStation 5. This was reported by the authoritative publication Bloomberg.

We are talking about internal plans and forecasts that were not disclosed to the public. It is reported that the company originally planned to assemble 16 million consoles between April 2021 and March 2022. Now the release plan for the current fiscal year has been reduced to 15 million.

Publicly, Sony has committed itself to investor sales of 14.8 million PS5 consoles in the current fiscal year. Thus, the downward revision of the plans was not very noticeable.

However, the decline in internal forecasts shows how limited sales will be for the foreseeable future. The slated for production of 16 million consoles allowed Sony to meet its annual sales target and secure additional inventory for the next year.

However, now it becomes clear that the deficit of PlayStation 5 in retail stores will not disappear and it will still be difficult to buy a new console.

It is noted that Sony is facing problems with logistics as well as supplying components, as the industry faces an unprecedented shortage of chips internationally. Components do not always arrive on time, and different levels of vaccinations and coronavirus measures are complicating operations at manufacturing bases, a Bloomberg report said.

That said, Sony predicts that 22.6 million PS5s will be sold in the next fiscal year, starting in April 2022. However, the manufacturing partners reportedly believe that achieving this goal will be difficult.

Promised 8 GB of RAM, but only in single-channel mode. There will also be 128 or 256 GB in the form of an M.2 2242 SSD. The device will receive a design typical of such consoles, which includes a small screen, D-Pad, analog sticks, control buttons and triggers. Also, the novelty will receive active cooling, stereo speakers, as well as headphone and microphone outputs.

It seems that such a console would be well suited for running retro games or streaming games in the clouds. Given that the hardware is rather weak, it is unlikely that she will be able to run the same Cyberpunk 2077.

Earlier, we recall, AOKZOE introduced the A1 console with a much more powerful processor and graphics.
